lpg detector location

Is there any special requirements for where you have an LPG detector installed? The only thing I know for sure is it has to be close to the floor but what about if it can be behind a cabinet door. I just rebuilt my cabinets and need to re-install it but would like to not have to cut a hole in the new cabinet door. Thank you for your advise.

They have to be out in the open to work effectively. Low to the floor is good but not behind a door because the door will delay the sensor time, maybe way too late.

Since LPG is heavier than air you'll be a screwed pooch if the high one goes off

I wouldn't think so since they are at two different heights.

They could be wired together like smoke detectors, one trips alarm, they all sound.

I would have to check, but I believe they are wired together in the case of the truck camper. What I find amazing is that on something like a huge fiver they only have one...

Using the engineer's mindset,,,,let's install only one detector and the best place is where all the LPG will likely accumulate. The kitchen of course where the range, water heater, refrigerator and furnace live.

Nope... engineer would put at least 3 in, just to make sure he has it covered. The bean counters will cut him back to one, because that is all that is the minimum required by law. And then they will spec the cheapest unit they can find.
