I give up - It's time to say good-bye

I give up….after two years of fighting with Dutchmen/Keystone it’s time so say UNCLE! We’ve decided to trade-in the Voltage and purchase from another manufacturer. I’m tired of fixing issues that weren't done right at the factory and having things fall apart.

I wanted to say that we really appreciate all on this forum that have inspired us with upgrades and fixes. This has been a great forum to vent our frustrations as well as discover modifications to make our journey more enjoyable – so thank you all. You’re a great group of folks.

We are going to “take a bath” on the trade, so I’m removing a couple of upgrades to help make the trade a little less painful. If anyone is interested I will be selling our 17.5 wheels and tires (thanks Don for the posts) as well as our inverter set up. If interested you can PM me or I’ll have them posted on the classifieds soon.

You all have been great. This has been my “go-to” forum and I wish you all safe travels.

Jim

Stay in touch and keep us posted on what you get. Good luck finding your new unit.

I hear yah man. I have only had mine for 6 months and am ready to trade (I've already invested more than I'd like to admit in upgrades)

If you haven't bought yet, I am keeping a close on on the new Augusta RV Luxe toy hauler. They are unveiling it and all floorplans next month. They seem legit.

Good luck on your search for a new "trouble free" unit.

Good luck and hope you do well with your search. We’ve had more than our share of problems too so I have a pretty good idea how you feel. I picked ours up from the dealer again yesterday with the final fixes for the problems that existed since new. Our warranty expired November of 2015, so I was grateful they continued correcting things after it expired. I was informed that this is the end of the warranty work and I’m now on my own. I believe everything is now corrected, but wish I could stop wondering, “What’s next?” Happy Travels with the new one!!

When you buy from a different manufacturer, make sure it isn't just another division of Thor.

I had my Dutchmen Victory Lane for 7 years and now my Voltage for 5 years. Can't say they were trouble-free, but nothing impossible. A LOT depends on the dealer.

Two companies having almost 90% of the RV market is certainly playing a role in the quality issues IMO. If I do drop my new Voltage for something else, it will certainly be for an independently owned company.

We've had our 3605 since May of 2015. We've taken 3 long vacations totaling 30,000 miles, and a dozen quick weekend trips, and have not had any major issues. Our Rv Dealer has been great. This is my 5th trailer, and by far the nicest. Just thought the "other side" needs to be reported.

I would hold on to the 17.5 wheels & tires. Most all pull RV's are going to have 16" as there max size. Your 17.5" will fit any 16" rv set-up.
So are you looking at a toyhauler or something else?

Actually ordered a DRV Mobile Suites....yes, I know they were bought out by Thor - but all indications are that they are still producing well built units complete with 17.5 wheels and disc brakes as standard. We opted for a living coach rather than a toy hauler. We looked long and hard at their toy haulers but I just couldn't bring myself to tow a 45+ ft. coach That said, we may look into the Idaho Tote when we want to take our Rhino with us. I do know I'll miss the garage, but we're going to try it and see how it goes.

Well I did say most not all pull RV's have 16" wheels. Didn't know you were moving up to a Mobile Suite 5th wheel. Those are modern day Tetons.
Look at these if needing to take you toy along.
The ultimate single wheel trailer system.
Once we sell our Voltage & start using our Teton that's what I'm looking to get.

I have looked at those and they have their place. Not sure if I would tow one of those or the Idaho Tote. We're going to make a few trips before we decide

OMG! DRV Mobil Suites was worst RV 5th Wheel I owned. had so many problems with my NEW 2014 DRV. Traded it in for the Voltage 2016. Still have issues with this Voltage, but not as bad as the DRV. Major leaks in BR slide. Hydraulics on front jacks, wheel seals leaking. etc etc,,,, Check it very close and good luck with it.

There for a while I think the Dutchman assemblers only worked on Monday and Friday.
