Update to above post: fuel gauge at fuel caddy pump is also reading empty so now I am back to thinking it is not the gauge and is wiring.

I am at a loss.

Maybe a blown fuse??? My fuel stations gauge has worked from day one. I only had problems with the gen set fuel gauge.

Checked that and all are good. I think I am taking it in and will have them deal with a few other items. I will update the thread when I learn what the issue is.

Thanks again for your help.

That Guage at the caddy will always read empty unless the pump is running

Thanks Scott. I will have to check with the pump on and see. Either way I will learn something.

Just dropped it off today. Fuel caddy gauge doesn’t work even when pump is running. I bet there is a ground missing somewhere along the run.

So the culprit was actually a bad sending unit which was replaced and all is working now.

Thanks Scott. You did save me hours of frustration. Took me about 10 minutes to fix it. Not real confident about the dealer telling me, "oh that will go away when you fill it up."
I'm gonna have to share this with them, as I'd bet all the voltages are the same way.

So the follow up is after 8 hours of generator use the gauge never moved. Obviously, nothing was fixed. In addition, both my gray tanks read empty and my black reads 1/3 full after 48 hours of dry camping. Oh, and I can no longer pump gas from the fuel caddy either.

So glad I had my rig in for a month so they could not fix the primary issue and actually screw up my holding tanks that used to read fine.

Now I get to take it back again. I am almost certain these are electrical issues and not mechanical but I have no way of knowing for sure.

So frustrating.

Dsol I'm sure you ate right these problems are electrical but unfortunately the dealer probably is not your best bet to get it fixed they generally have no idea how to track down and fix problems like these your best bet is to do it yourself or with a friend that has some electrical knowledge

Scott, I think you are 100% right and I might go that route. I have some basic knowledge but not enough. Before I took it in the first time I put a multimeter on the leads and had a voltage reading between 0 and 12 volts which should have translated to some reading other than empty. Now the gauge is always totally full and the fuel caddy gauge jumps to full when powered on. But the new wrinkle with the fuel pump not even working now is another issue.

The huge pain is it is basically two full days to drop and then pick the trailer up and I would gladly spend a few hundred bucks and a few hours of my time to avoid that.

Do you think I could call a residential electrician?

I also worry about making it worse or them later denying a warranty claim because of something I did without authorization.

I am so frustrated.

I doubt a residential electrician would even look at it and if they did may not understand the 12 volt system enough to do any good I understand your frustration!

So I just picked up my trailer after second trip in and it appears the fuel gauge is fixed. Evidently they either rewired or replaced some wires and the fuel station pump had some disconnected wires.

I think everything is now working. Finally.

I don't know if you got your problem fixed. the camper is wired wrong from the factory. My Dealer could not fix the problem I had to take it to an Onan Dealer. The problem is at the fuel gage

Picked up my 2018 3605 yesterday, having same problem with gage! This sucks to read that most have same problem. Is the rear tank the Gen Fuel tank? At work can't look at it now, unreal they would label them wrong!

Hi Andy, The problem is at the fuel gage it is wired wrong from the factory. My dealer could not fix it I had to take it to am Onan Dealer. Dutchman should be ashamed of them self's . There's a wire at the gage that's not hooked up. I think it is a black wire with red stripe I think its the ground for the sending unit in the tank .
