Florida Keys RV Parks

We're trying to map a trip for spring 2017 from AZ to Florida and back. Looking for recommendations for parks in the Florida Keys. We have a Voltage 3950 and would hope to be able to back up to the water / beach and use the deck. We're planning on a mid April departure which should put us in FL around May 1. Suggestions?

Bluewater RV Park is about the nicest campground on the Keys. Near Mile Marker 10 or 15. Waterfront sites, tiki huts, etc. But bring money! Very pricey. Good news is After April 15th or so, most campgrounds on the Keys go to low season rates, so your timing is excellent.

Bahia Honda state park is awesome.
Jolly Roger rv park is another nice one.
Curry Hammock state park is good also.
As mentioned your time of year will have much more availability then from Nov to April would.

If you have access to military bases, NAS Key West has one. It is on a first come, first serve basis.

there is also Geiger key. We stayed there last year.. Its off the beaten path but nice. We backed our unit right up to the lagoon and went swimming in the lagoon. It is on the water but not on the ocean or gulf.. Its a lagoon. Its about 5 minutes from Key West. Not as nice as Blue water but not as expensive either.. Very nice people to deal with.

We stayed at Sunshine Key RV Resort and Marina last year and are going back again this winter. It is right after you cross 7 mile bridge, actually on Ohio Key, very close to Big Pine Key. They have locations that back up to the water.

I think everybody's pretty much covered all your camping options for the FL Keys. IMO Bahia Honda State Park offers the biggest bang for the buck, but it's extremely difficult to get a reservation. If you're a Passport America (passportamerica.com) member there are a limited number of RV parks in the FL Keys that accept PA memberships (50% discount) for limited stays during the off-season.

BTW, we pull our toy hauler (with a jetski and kayaks onboard) from AZ to Key West and back for a 1-2 month stay at least once a year. Southern AZ is a blast, but we miss the ocean every now and then. We do visit the west coast occasionally---we're just more drawn to the FL Keys and the much, much warmer water. Water temps in the Florida Keys get up to 88 degrees or so during the summer and early fall (vs. the 60's on the west coast).

You're gonna love the FL Keys! Closest you'll get to a Caribbean adventure in the US. Have a safe, fun trip
