Floppy Awning Arms
Voltage 3990 with the high mounted Carefree awnings. I had my extended warranty replace the arms on the large front awning, as the front arm kind of flopped an inch or so after it was fully retracted due to a shoddy initial repair job due to me leaving the awning up during a windy day, bending it (Lesson learned!). Replacement didn't correct the issue, even though both arms are new. In fact, now both arms kind of flop when the awning is retracted. They pull up snug to the wall, but you can easily pull the awning arm out an inch or so, meaning it will probably flop a bit going down the road. Dealer messed with the rubber band nipples mounted on the roller, which is supposed to catch the awning cover and snug them up I guess, to no avail. Says it's because my awning is 1/2" out of square (longer on one side than the other) and the only way to fix it is to replace the awning material itself for around $400 in parts. Says it could be a Carefree defect and maybe they will do a good will replacement (16 months out of factory warranty), which I doubt, or it got stretched. Does their diagnosis make sense to you guys and are there any other adjustments I can try? Sorry about being so wordy on a minor issue. Thanks in advance.
Rusty
