Domestic ac unit cutting in and off

I just had a dometic ac unit replaced in the bedroom and the new unit will cut on for a few minutes then cut of for a few . The old unit was not cooling at all. The control box or freeze sensor was not replaced. This is on a voltage 3990.

Did you get this fixed? Are you receiving any error codes on your thermostat? I had this similar problem on a new 2016 Voltage 3200. I received E1 codes which shows the controllers are not communicating. Very frustrating when the temp outside was in the upper 90's. My problem was the phone connectors located in the main (living area) AC was all corroded. This was on my third outing with a new trailer....argggggggg. New connectors added along with dielectric grease and all better.

My garage a/c unit has done this twice now. It will cut in and out, an E1 code will show on the t- stat display and both a/c units will them shut off. After an hour or so they will work again. I had a tech look at it and they could not find anything. I have never had a problem with the main unit. It only happens when the garage ac is running. I agree it is frustrating when it is 90+ degrees and you ac shuts off for an unknown reason. I have a 2013 3200.

E1 is a communication problem. I would check the main AC as the garage and bedroom is managed from the main. This is where the corrosion was found. Pull the cover off the top (about 8 to 10 screws). Once that is off, unscrew the inside galvanized cover (about 15 screws) and the phone lines are all there. Unplug each and look at the male and female ends for the corrosion. My money is that is where your problem is as the other controllers are accessible from the inside and thus better protected from the elements.

I pulled the covers on the main ac unit and and found 2 telephone wire connectors. I did not see any oxidation, but put some ox-gard grease on the connections for safe measure. Anything else I should check?

I can't think of anything else. If you keep getting the E1 error, I would consider replacing the controller card.

Thanks, It has only happened a couple of times. Hopefully it does not become a problem.
