Dimmer Help Needed

Hi All - I am not sure about the differences between LED, Halogen, Incandescent with regard to dimming. Every Voltage probably has similar lighting to the 3800 I venture to guess, with about 5 switches each controlling about 5 interior lights each. one string is over the seating area, and two strings are overhead, on left and right.

I can tell that there are distinctly two different kinds of lights; at first they all looked the same, but the disc size, shape, and color of light differs.

I bought a dimmer switch with a slider that I intended to put inline between the switch controlling these strings, as they are very harsh. The dimmer is a non-LED kind, but my lights I have heard are both Halogen and LED, and the Halogens work like Incandescent as far as dimming goes.

But bottom line I am not sure if I can use the dimmer I bought, and on which light strings. The dimmer was one of the two available in the big 500 page rv parts catalog everyone has.. I will post the link to it if needed.

Just take the glass lenses off the lights and see what lamp is in there. If it has a filament then your dimmer should work.

They do make an LED dimmer if you need one. I was looking at one for some reason. But decided I didn't need it for what I was planning.
