Diesel Generator in Voltage
I have a 2013 Dutchmen Voltage 3800 and I installed a Onan QD 6000 in my trailer but the power control system just thinks I have 30 amps. Is there a way to override the system?

Yes. There were several trailers where they hooked up to power control wrong. Send me your email and I will send to you the fix to get it back to 50 amps

I wish you would put the answer on the forum for all to see. It might help others even in the future or even now.. This is where we all learn from each other.

I will try and explain it. It a wire diagram. I spoke to the engineer for the precision circuit board and he told me how to rewire it.

If you'll also send that wire diagram to me... I'll make a pdf. file from it and post it up here on the board. atcguy@live.com

I have been thinking very hard on this same change. Would love to have the diesel gen in my 2014 3950, tried talking to Dutchmen about having them do it at the factory, got little or no response about the mod. So, planning on doing it myself. I have priced the diesel Cummins/Onan out, was it easy to find a buyer for your gas gen? That's my biggest concern, I know I will not recoup the cost totally, I do not want to have a gas gen sitting around with no use. Already have one for the house and shop, 12.5kw, so a spare gas 5.5kw would do me no good. Did it fit as well as my measurements said it will? Was there any other wiring issues you ran into? I believe that it is very similar, other than your 30-50A issue. The wiring diagram would be VERY helpful to those such as myself with the capability to make use of it. Thanks.

Diesel Generator
I was able to put a Onan QD6000 in my trailer. In order to make the hour meter and the start to work from the inside of the trailer I had to do some rewiring due to the Onan 5000 having a 4x4 pin connector and the Diesel having a 5x5 pin connector. I called onan but they did not have an adapter. So I just took the 4x4 pin connector apart and looked at both wiring diagrams and just wired it to the 5x5 pin connector. The original shroud had to be removed also. Attached is the PDF to show you how to get 50 AMPs out of your trailer if it is just showing 20 or 30 AMPS. There is a yellow wire that should connect to the 12v side of the hour meter. (Pin 7) The wire diagram shows a black wire. If you remove the precision circuit board and disconnect the wire harness and find pin 7. trace pin 7 and see if it is connected to the 12v side of the hour meter. If it is not connected to the 12v side, disconnect what ever wire is connected to pin 7 and then connect pin 7 directly to the 12v side of the hour meter. If done correctly the precision circuit board will light up with the GEN light and you will now have 50 amps.

Wanted to say thanks for the pdf and let you know that your instructions worked great. After following your directions I now have 50+ amps from the generator.
Thanks again!

I am almost finished installing a QD7500 in my trailer. I am hoping to at some point completely remove the LMS from the system as I seem to have issues with it that Precision Circuits isn't able to help with either.
