Convection oven smoking - first time use

2019 Voltage 3705... we are trying to use the convection oven for the first time and it started smoking up top inside after about 30 seconds. We pulled food out and it is still smoking a bit after a few minutes. What are we doing wrong?? We did click the convection bottom first and are trying to cook a small pizza and it is on the round rack. It is doing this because it is the first time we used the convection setting (we have used the microwave part several times already)? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank You.

Is there an outside vent? It usually has little tabs on it that need opened.

Thanks for the reply... No outside vents as this is a convection oven, not a standard oven so no outside vent.

Sounds like you have had some dust or oil on the browning element. Ours smoked the first couple of times we used it, then stopped. Just keep a close eye on it. We use both the stove hood and a powered roof vent when baking.

Had 3 convection ovens, one in a Voltage. Don't recall smoking in any of them. Who knows though? Check the manual under "Troubleshooting" and see if it's listed, or maybe try Google?

I didn't see anything about it in the trouble shooting section. EC942KIW & EC942K9E-Instruction.pdf

We are hoping it is just dust on the elements... just a bit nerve-wracking! :-)
