Where would this fuse/relay be located? I'd like to check and see if I have one on my F150.

It goes in the fuse box under the hood. What year F150? I have a 2003 and when it stops raining I will see what the book says on it. I know I have a 12 volt feed on my 7 pin plug.

If your Ford has the tow package it will be under the hood on the driver side. Should be close to the inside fenderwell.

I'm pretty sure that a factory 7 pin connector has a 12V going to the trailer. The break away battery needs to get charged some how. (I'm referring to cargo trailers, not campers.

Battery goes dead, no brakes.

I just answered my own question. That you tube video is made by a company in Belfast Ireland.

Gordon,

The easiest way to check is with a test light or multimeter. The center pin is your 12V charging circuit. Depending how the OEM wires the vehicle, you may need to have the TV running to see power.

The auxiliary battery (TT) circuit should be isolated so that your camper doesn't draw down the starting battery. I still have a new battery isolator from my emergency kit, out in the garage, left over from the good old days.

It used to be you could open the hood and see exactly how the TV was wired, now with everything built in to modules you need a schematic to figure it out.

No, the center is NOT the 12V+ It is used for backup lights, if used. This is the diagram I use. Notice the reference is reversed, i.e. looking at the plug vs looking at the connector. On my new Titan, the 12V+ only comes alive when the engine is on, thus there is a relay between the battery and the connector. For that matter, in my Titan, the same goes for the turn signals. I know, I had to restore the operation of these relays to get everything to work. I hope you find this diagram helpful!

I got the two most recent panels from Home Depot online with military discount - they are Grape Solar. The pair that I took off my old 5th wheel before trade in are Kyocera and they are on this unit as well for a total of 370 watts.

My charge controlller is a Sunforce 30A unit. Coleman actually rebrands the Sunforce unit and sells it too. They are identical if you look at them.

As does mine. Of course I had to take the fuse box cover off under the hood, connect a red wire to a power post then buy and install a 40 amp fuse.
