Broken trusses

We have a 2014 Voltage 3895. Noticed a couple of months ago that main slide was scraping the kitchen soffited area when being brought in. After meauring there is a difference of almost 2 inches in the middle of the ceiling in the kitchen/living area. Been in the shop for a while now. The whole roof was taken off to reveal 8 broken trusses. They are being rebuilt and trailer should be done in two weeks. we do not have parties on top of the trailer. No dancing. We do not even go up to check on it I am curious firstly to know if someone has something similar to this happen to you, and your thoughts on what could have happened.

The Great Recession

2014 was during the great recession. Voltages were built below minimum materials, but the company managed to stay in business when others failed.

I'm guessing something fell on the roof. Probably happened at the factory or in transit and with no visible damage it went unnoticed.

Is yours supposed to be walk-able roof? I imagine not. That really sucks! Hope you get to enjoy it again soon!

Good Luck

Ouch, that's scary to look at. My guess is a AC was dropped on it during build or if you bought it used, replacement. Hate to guess what that will cost for repair. Good luck.

Broken trusses

We bought it new. We dont make a habit of getting on the top although we are supposed to be able too. We were told between 6-10 thousand to fix.

Sorry again . That is hard to believe.
Was there any visible outside damage?
Best of luck.

My husband noticed the interior ceiling sagging. When we took it in to the service department they noticed the sag on the top of the trailer. It’s really a bummer, but we love our Voltage and can’t wait to get it back and start camping again!

I guess the point of my question is that if no exterior damage is evident. Than you may have a cause for trying to hit the Manufacturer for warranty. Even if it is expired.

You never know.
Good Luck.

This is a known issue with the Voltage roofs. I have a 2014 3800 and it had the same problem. Fortunately, it was not as many trusses. I fixed it myself using some flat steel along 4 of the trusses. It was quite a project, but saved me thousands.

I have a 2015 3970 Voltage. Mine had a recall on the trusses next to the main A/C unit. You might want to check and see if your 3895 might have had a recall.

roof trusses

We have a 2016 Voltage 3990 Epic, upon the dealer going through it before I picked it up, they noticed the roof near the center AC bowed down. Keystone paid for the complete repair including a new roof . I heard there was some kind of recall, and knowledge that there was a problem.
