Question Air Pressure

I put Goodyear G614's on my V3200 and when I asked the Goodyear Dealer about air pressure he said to run 80lb in them since the manufacturer states that. I see others running 100lb or even 110lb. I know the tires are rated at 110 and my rims are 110lb What are your thoughts regarding what aire pressure I should run.

Do you know how much weight is on you axles? The tires are rated for 3750 @ 110 psi.
Commercial tire store I"ve dealt with for the last 25+ years would call it flat at 80 psi.
Hope you have better luck with those than I did on my Teton.

80psi. Did you already upgrade tires? From what I hear, it's the 16" rim size that causes a lot of trouble (regardless of the brand of tire).

At 80 PSI the load limit per tire drops 700 lbs...

Max inflation = Max load

I would like to know where you heard that. What possible effect would wheel diameter have to do with tire failure. Please check your facts.

Well, I hope I'm wrong too, but from what I read, I took the plunge and ordered 17.5 wheels. Sucks to spend so much $$$ to have more peace of mind after spending all the money for a rig.

17.5" tires have a 1000 lbs more capacity & 16 ply rating. These are what commercial lowboy trailer have. Check any of my posts on 16" tire failures. American made Goodyear G rated tires I blew six of them. Once I went to 17.5 my problems went away.

It has nothing to do with the wheel size and everything to do with tire availability. There's just better options for higher load capacity for 17.5" wheels, it's as simple as that. To the original poster, you want to run 110 psi. If you weigh your trailer, you will find that you are at nearly 7000 lbs per axle (when fully loaded for camping). You'll want every bit of the 3750 lbs of capacity.

Remember that you are also carrying some of the trailer weight on the truck. In my case, there is 3400lbs on the hitch, so that even at the gross weight of my trailer (19000lbs) there is only 15,600lbs on the tires. Divide that by 6 and each tire is only carrying 2600lbs, which is WELL below the max capacity of the G614's. If you look at the Goodyear Tire Inflation chart on their website, you can run 80psi with no problem. I have personally called the Goodyear tire engineering dept. On this subject, and they state that you should not run the tire under inflated for the weight that you are carrying. He said that it is perfectly OK to run at a lower pressure so long as the tire is not overloaded at that pressure.
