Air filter

Just got this 3200 a few months ago. Where is the air filter for the main AC? It's ducted and the filter is not on the bottom of the unit. I'll have a lot of questions, so I'll keep them one at a time. Thanks.

Not that I can use the AC since it's burning up when it runs. Smells like something electric burning. And I here it kicking something on ,then cuts off real quick. Probably the compressor. Thanks Folks for the help.

This trailer is real clean, They only used it one time and then it set. Not the best thing for anything.

The burning smell and on/off operation sounds like a bad capacitor. I've had that happen with one of my previous campers. Cheap fix, but if it's under warranty and they're not going to take a long time to fix, let the dealer foot the bill.

Thanks a lot eightydo, I just thought those were supply air, not return air.

Sinecure, this capacitor you speck of, is that in the metal box under the cover that all the wires run to? Do you know how many there are and do they just plug in or is there soldering to do? I can Google what they look like. I suppose they all look pretty much the same. Man if I can fix this without buying a new one I would be happy, happy, happy! I have been looking to buy a new one. Last weekend I toke the cover off try to find the model number, so I could replace it.

Have a nice evening folks, and thanks again.

Yep, that's where you'll find them. Also called hard start kit as eightydo said. They connect using spade connectors that just plug in. Google your AC model number and capacitor or hard start and you should find what you need. On my previous camper's AC there were three capacitors, and I couldn't tell which one was bad so I replaced them all for around $40 if I remember correctly.

Hard start capacitors made a big difference for me on the my last rig - just haven't had the chance to install them on the new rig, plus still under warranty...

Just a few words of caution if you never messed with capacitors before, if the cap is good, it will store electricity that does reach out and bite so follow 2 safety tips
1. Ensure ALL electricity is disconnected, shore and batteries.
2. Once you can see the capacitors be sure to discharge them before trying to disconnect any leads. Do this by shorting the two terminals with a screw driver, it will arc like you would see hooking up battery jumper cables.

Make sure you mark which lead goes where, it does make a differance on reassembly.

Thanks for the heads up on the capacitors. I have to get up on the roof and see if I can find the model number. I found the tag last weekend but no model number. It is a Dometic breeze II AC unit. That may be enough info I dunno.

I ordered the item and it'll get here next week. I did fail to let you folks know that the compressor was not coming on. And the AC was not blowing cold air. Do ya'll think that this may fix it. I guess it doesn't really matter since it was only twelve bucks delivered to my door. Have a good weekend.

Got it working, it was the run capacitor. I received the hard start and it was not the right one. I saw that the run capacitor was fried and replaced it. Runs like a champ.
Now the front one runs and gets cold, but when it reaches the set temp the compressor stops, the fan keeps running. Jeez, it's almost summer. lol

Check to see if the A/C fan mode is set to AUTO. Should go off when the compressor kicks out.
