Adding tie downs

Sorry guys, I used the search but to no avail
I want to add more tie downs in my garage, but I'm wondering what lies underneath. I have the all weather package and can not see if there is anything on the bottom side that I could damage should I drill/screw into the floor.
Is there any do's or don'ts I should be aware of?
Thanks.

I added a couple more tie downs to my 3605 and where I added them wasn't covered by the laminated cardboard type belly cover. I did some measuring both in the garage and underneath and figured out where the bolts would come through the floor. I used tie downs that are twice as heavy as the standard ones. I drilled through one frame section and used locking nuts on the bottom. One tie down was through just the flooring so I used big flat washers with the locking nuts.
If you want to go in where the belly cover is I used a small angle grinder to grind the head off of the nail type fastener they used at the factory to hold the cover in place. Then you can pull the cover loose, I used self tapping screws with the built in drill bit on the end to replace the belly cover. I had to get in there to replace the hydraulic hoses on the level up system.

Just be carful where you drill obviously you don't want to drill through a fuel tank or a holding tank.

L-track

Has anyone installed L-track (like what they use in airplanes)? I think it would make a good looking tie down location. I am not sure of the loads or mounting. but my kayaks and motorcycle shoudn't be to much for it.

Only thing to check for is the cross braces. I installed my motorcycle tie down & I made sure I did drill through the brace. If your tie down needs to sit below the floor then yes you need to check were those braces are. All depends upon what kind of tie down you are installing.

l'm going to add a couple of heavy D-ring tie downs...but I'm going to remove the front fuel tank...so that I can use steel backing plates.

Will post.

Did you ever add the D-ring tie downs in your garage? I am curious how removing the tank went and if you have any pictures to share. I am wanting to do the same.

Yes, I added five heavy duty D-ring tie-downs in the garage of my Voltage 3800.
Getting under there, found that I did not have to remove the toy-tank to get to where I was going add the front three.

Positioned the front pair so that the garage to living area door would open fully and the garage half-bath door would open fully...with the tie-down straps in place.

Here is a link to my Photobucket album with the pics of the project.

I did a post on the installation, but have to look for it. If you would like to have my template and base plates, I can cut them on my PlasmaCam.

But yes, they work very well tying down the new Polaris General, which is larger and heavier than the RZR 800.

I'll see if I can find my post.

Thanks Pirate. Looks like a good upgrade you made.

I am jealous, I wish I had a Plasmacam of my own.

The PlasmaCam was part of my retirement planning...having things to do after retiring.

So the PC, four welding machines, a machine shop, a reloading room...and the ability to do just about whatever needs doing...

Gotta have a plan!!
