A couple problems with new 2016 V3605

Hi All,

This is our first outing in our new rig and we have encountered a couple problems I was hoping someone might have some experience with. The first thing is when I turn on the furnace, the A/C blower overhead (kitchen area) runs along with it. This doesn't make any sense, since you want heat not cooling. The second issue is no matter how we adjust the shower faucet it will put out hot water for a few seconds and then turns freezing cold. Bottom line, no showers or dry camping until I figure this one out! I would appreciate any insight anyone might have into these issues.

Check your control valves and make sure it is on normal. Not bypass. Also. Make sure your outdoor faucets are shut off

After reading the thermostat manual and reading another post, the heat A/C problem is solved. I am still trying to figure out the shower faucet issue if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks for the tip. I checked the shower, knobs are off. Water heater bypass is in normal position, so is the winterizing switch. I checked the shower again and it is still hot and then cold. Any other ideas?

I know on mine (3905) when I first set up I have to run the hot water heater on propane to get the water hot then I witch back to electric and it's good to go. For what ever reason it takes way to long to heat up with electric .
This will also help to determine what side or both don't work?
Also make sure the switch in the hot water area (outside ) is on the on position

I have learned in the year I've owned my 3605, have to turn more cold than hot to start. the hot water tank is only 5' away from the shower so it hits really fast. also make sure you clean ALL the faucet screens. all the shavings from the pex pipe cutting and splicing from factory will plug your taps and drastically reduce your water flow

Not following this quote, If you turn just the hot water valve in the shower to the on position it runs hot, then turns cold? Or are you saying when you open the cold water side it gets hot? Okay upon hookup to city water I will first open my hot water shower outside to ensure hot water tank is full and all air is out. Once I am getting nothing but water and no air I am assured hot water tank is full. Then I go inside and turn electric hot water switch on. (If in a rush I would use the propane) On some models with electric elements they have an On/Off switch outside on water heater, I do not have that switch, if you do ensure it is on. Check all these things out, you could have turned the electric element on without water in tank and burned element, these are easy to replace!

Have you checked and seen if you middle (kitchen) A/C could possibly be a heat pump unit? Then it would run. Do not ask me why but I have 3 A/C units. #1 Zone is Fan/Cool/Heat. #2 Zone is Fan/Cool/Furnace and #3 zone in garage is Fan/Cool. Also if you look on top of my unit all 3 units are dometic but different looking. Your middle unit may be a heat pump like ours! So when cold camping we use the heat pump and electric stove fireplace we bought from Tractor Supply.

Kurt, just double-checking. By "normal," you mean closed, right? Not open like every other valve.

You are positive that your water heater bypass valves are in the correct position? Your symptoms sound like this is the culprit.

Fresh water into the bottom of the hot water tank should be open, hot water out from the top of the hot water tank should be open, bypass valve between the inlet and outlet should be closed.

Another culprit is that you have an outside shower and the hot and cold valves on that shower have been left open. That would allow for the same type of symptoms that incorrect winter bypass valving causes.

Been awhile, but I am back! We dry camped this past weekend and didn't seem to have the hot/cold shower problem when using he pump. When we camped the first time, we were in a campground with city water connected and didn't use the pump. Water pressure is not very good but i solved that problem in our first rig with a ShurFlo water pump; may do the same here after I check the faucet strainers for plastic bits. Thanks again for all the help!
