Don't be in a rush during the PDI and if you find anything that needs fixing I would suggest that you tell the dealer to get it fixed and call you when it's done. Then check everything again, the dealer will be more motivated to get you rig fixed and delivered, than to have you bring it back in a month or ?.
Take a look around the forum and note what sort of things come up.
If you do decide to take delivery of the unit with defects, get a firm commitment in writing, what is to be repaired and when it is going to be done, then hold the dealer to it.
Remember out of site, out of mind.
Don't let you emotions take over on Saturday.

I did exactly as Hddecker said. Did a 3 hour PDI and handed the list of discrepancies to the service manager as I was leaving. The man says "it will be a few days". The owner caught me as I was headed out and says "so, ready to sign the papers?" And I tell him that I'll take care of I when I come to pick up the trailer. They call back 3 hours later and say its ready. I looked over everything I found, and they did indeed fix everything on the list, and a few things I didn't find. He wasn't getting that fat check until the unit was as it should be. They did good work, and everything worked as it should. I am very pleased with my dealer, as he has helped me out, and answered all my questions. Don't take a broken trailer home, as you will work 3 times harder than you need to to get it fixed, and have to tow the trailer back and forth.

I am so happy that it worked out for you.
It's just one of those life lessons that you pick up and I am glad I can pass them on.

I'm not sure who actually posted it but this forum is where I read about doing that exact same thing. Unfortunately, I'm one of those guys that goes to pick up his trailer and I'm so excited, I don't look at everything good enough.
Thanks to people like hd, I read that and spent the time going through my trailer getting my questions answered and the trailer checked out.
That's knowledge you just can't buy.

I would like to add one more "MUST DO" before taking delivery, "SPEND AT LEAST TWO NIGHTS IN THEIR PARKING LOT WITH AIR AND WATER."" Make a list of problems the first night. Let them fix em. Then stay another night to make certain something else did not get mucked up and the first list was satisfactorily fixed.
If you don't heed this warning and something is not discovered till your first night or week out with your $80k plus unit, good luck!!!!

As good as this advice is, I just don't think it's very practical. I would seriously doubt many, if not most RV dealers simply do not allow people sleeping on their lot overnight. I doubt their insurance would allow it due to liability. Instead just make sure they hook everything up, including water and sewerage and put each system through its paces. It might make it uncomfortable for a little while, but don't forget the heater.

I know several dealers that will allow you to do just that. In fact one of them (not a Dutchmen dealer BTW) encourages it!

Thanks for the input... PDI went well with only a few minor cosmetic fixes.
