I wonder what they changed in the Ram tow package since 2007. Never had a problem leaving the camper plugged into the truck in the past. Turn the key off and the trailer can not draw power from the truck battery. Just like the old days before factory tow packages when you put a battery isolator to stop the camper from drawing down the starting battery.

If your truck has the factory tow package and is not charging you trailer batteries, check your fuse panel for a burnt out fuse, on my Ram it's one of those fancy square 30A fuses in position 12. This is the cicuit that charges the trailer batteries.

I didn't even realize that I had burnt out the fuse, (the solar panels were keeping the batteries charged) until I upgraded the trailer brakes. The hydraulic actuator requires a constant 12V supplied from the tow vehicle and it comes from this circuit, which is only live when the key is in the run position. If it wasn't isolated the actuator would be running constantly.
