2014 Voltage 3200 living room reading lights

Would someone who owns a 3200 tell me if thereading lights in the living room work without the overhead lights being turned on? In mine we have to have all the lights over the recliners on to get the reading lights on, which is rather useless.

Mine are the same in the 3950, it would be nice just to have the lamps on and not the overhead......

My thoughts exactly. Not sure why they are there to begin with. Would have preferred to have more storage instead.

I also did not like the ceiling lights on all the time. We use the reading lights all the time. I pulled each of the puck lights until I figured out how they were wired. The feeder wire that feeds all the overhead lights connects to the left overhead light as you are facing the couch. I installed a pull chain switch beside the puck light. The overhead lights do not come on until you pull the pull chain. We hardly ever turn them on so the pull chain does not get used much.

My wife and I were talking about this very thing this evening. We'll be putting a switch up by that puck light so we can have the sconces on without overhead lights.

nmroper do you know if you can just hard wire this directly or do you need a power adapter/driver?

Looks like all the Voltages are wired that way as my V3605 is the same.

This is a question best answered by Sundancer87 since he has done it. I was planning to tap into existing wiring located in slide cieling and contact Sundancer with any questions. I expect him to roll in on this soon.

My original plan was to put the receiver in the slide but I felt there wasn't enough room for it. I ended up putting it behind the control panel, bypassing the switch and wiring direct to the receiver.
However with the other lights tied into the reading lights one may have to disassemble the reciever to make it smaller. That should allow it to pass through the puck light hole and fit between the ceiling and roof. Of course the receiver could always be located off to the side with a little clean wiring.

The brains at Dutchman saved a switch and a few feet of wire then. Seems kind of dumb, sort of like having the bathroom light come on when the bedroom light is on.

The wireless remote thing will still work, one just has to move some wires around.

Does everyone have switches on their reading lights to shut them off?
