Re: 2013 Kodiak Toy Hauler

We just picked up our 2012 292tqb a couple of weeks ago and took her out last week for four days. We had been looking and researching for a couple of years to find the trailer that would best meet our needs. So far, it's been great. We have two Honda rancher 420es atv's and my 2011 Honda fury motorcycle and the hubby's 2007 big dog k9 motorcycle. Now we can load up the bikes and head somewhere warm during the winter months so we can ride.

Do you know if there were any changes on the trailer between the two years?

Re: 2013 Kodiak Toy Hauler

Not that I know of, is your 2012 tan/ brown fiberglass? I think that is new this year or the last couple years. I see other pics of older ones that ate white. What interior color sceam did you get? We have had ours out a few times now and love it. The one and only negative is cupboard space.

1 year check in.

We are still loving our Kodiak Toy Hauler, It has been a full year now of camping a couple times a month. After a few minor repairs done by the dealer under warranty it is a great unit.

We are Happy Happy Happy.

Good to know, thanks for following up.

How's the A/C performance, I have seen reports of other Texans having trouble in the heat and it has me a little nervous.

To be honest....Living on the Oregon coast we use the A/C little to none. I usually start it up a few times a year to just to cycle everything to make sure it don't seize up.

It seems to get pretty dang cold and you can feel it in all three rooms thanks to the A/C ducting in the ceiling, but I am probably not the guy to tell you how if preforms in extreme heat.

Fair enough, I do appreciate the feedback though as the airflow from the vents seems to be a point of contention with the others I have read (all brands actually). I don't really intend to be camping when it's 100+ but I really think I will end up doing it, either on a family type vacation or event. I do know that sleeping in 80+ temps is not for me.

What are either of ya'll doing for fuel storage?

I inquired both at the dealer and with Dutchmen about adding the fuel station, they both declined to offer that addition.
I was thinking a garage wall mounted rack for the vertical "race" style fuel cans or possibly a tongue mounted cylindrical tank, think sand rail tank. I really don't want cans inside the trailer. In the bikes is fine, but loose cans doesn't sound like a good idea.

Sorry I have not checked in on this forum for a while.... To answer your question we always just pack a few 5gal cans in our p/u bed. A fueling station would be handy although I have talked to many people that have had many problems with on board fuel stations.... So maybe not as convenient but cans work for us.

awesome thanks for looking.

I hope I will enjoy, been debating between the Rubicon 2900 and the Kodiak.

Both have their pluses and minuses

Again thanks

You may alredy know this but if you don't the 292TQB KODIAK is 32 ft long and almost 36 with the toung. Most would assume it would be 28 or 29 with the name 292TQB but it is 32 ft.
I believe the rubicon is a true 29 ft. We looked at those as well but decided on the garage with sliding door on the Kodiak was a better fit for us.

I cant say that I knew that

Rubicon had the walkaround bed which was a major plus, downside was the slide needs to be open to have room to go by, I have a tighter area where I park, so that was not so good. Also you couldnt access bathroom with slide closed, unless you went thru backdoor.

Kodiak you can use the trailer with slide closed and also the dinette converts into a bed which can be good if we are somewhere and dont unload the toys. Interior storage is a bit lacking, but how much stuff do you bring?

Cant wait to get it

Storage was our big concern with the Kodiak but I have to say after having it a couple years now it has worked out fine. The tunnel box in front is HUGE, and we have never filled up under the dinette seating yet. The shortage is in food cupboards but that is a small sacrifice to have a trailer that you can have a garage filled with toys and the slide in or out and still use the trailer to its entirety. And we use the netted shelf up high in the garage as more food storage. Just a idea.

We took our new 292tqb for its first outing last weekend. So far, the only issue we found was a leak from the shower. When I looked closely, it wasn't caulked correctly. I was going to fix it, but figured I may as well use the warranty. I dropped it at our local CW, and picked it up today. It looks like they did a nice job on the shower seal. We have another trip scheduled next weekend, so we'll see how it goes. So far...so good.
