Surge protector

I have 2012 dutchmen infinity..,i've looked at other posts, still not sure where to install progressive50 HW protector??...thank you
Btw some say close to power center, but not 100% sure what that is thx

Hello- I opted to install the Pedestal surge protector , a Camco brand, can be easily replaced if something happens to it, and its much cheaper than the onboard hardwired system.

Welcome to the forum.

The power center or power distribution panel, is where the breakers and fuses are.

The install was very simple on my camper, the power distribution panel is below the TV and Dutchmen was kind enough to give me an extra 3' of wire. It took me about half an hour to clean up the mess of wires and water lines. Once that was done I mounted the surge protector cut the wire and secure the 120V wires and data cable for the display was another 15 minutes.

Thanks. So just inside my door, there's a little cabinet on 5the right...at the bottom there is a fuse. Center (had plastic cover) ..is this it? Tomorrow I'll look below tv...thx again

Sorry, I should have stated that my camper is not the same model as yours. Occupants photos give you an idea of what you are looking for. Once you find the power distribution panel, look for away to get behind it. Worst case senario, you have to slide the panel out to see if you have enough room behind it for the surge protector.

I was lucky because I just had to remove a panel and I had an 18X30" opening to work in.

We use the Progressive model you plug into the pedestal... I like it better for a couple reasons. First and foremost, I can check the power pedestal before backing in and getting situated...I know, I could carried something else along to check the pedestal, but I don't like having extra stuff.

Second, I have had mine replaced twice. Both times were due to campground pedestals. One campground even paid for my shipping to get the unit back to the manufacturer for repair. Very fast turn around, we had it back before we left for our next stop.

Get one! My preference is the Progressive Industries ones. They are the only one with a life time warranty. Hardwire or pole mount is your call. Some people have concerns about the pole mount getting stolen. Hard mount is most likely going to go with the unit if you sell or trade it.

Couple of options on where to mount it. As long as it is inline between the power coming in and the converter you should be fine. Mine will be mounted just inboard from my power cord inlet, converter is on the opposite side of the unit.

I am camping this weekend at a state park, power pedestal a few sites down from us blew out. Cost the guy $350 to have a mobile RV tech come out, trouble shoot and replace fuses. Hopefully that is all that got blown.

I have had mine time out more than one due to a low voltage condition.

Not sure how to share pic?? But as soon as you go in my fifth wheel there's a cabinet on the right on the very bottom there's a breaker box with fuses and breaker switches just to the right of this is a blank space before I start cutting any pieces of wood out of my fifth wheel is that where I should probably put my surge protector thank you

You shouldn't need to cut any of cabinetry, to install your surge protector. If you take the cover off of the power distribution panel, you should be able to slide it out far enough to verify there is room enough behind it.

You may find that you don't have enough room and need to look for paln B.

For my Kodiak travel trailer, I installed the Progressive 30 AMP version behind the access panel in the bathroom where the main electrical enters the trailer. I then installed the remote digital display inside one of the bathroom cabinets and ran the wire through the bottom of the cabinet and sealed the hole with some dark bronze caulking I had at the house. If I want to check the readings, I just open the cabinet door and look at the display.
