Had to take the gearbox apart and rap on the drive gear to get the armature out. I don't think I damaged it. In the second photo you can see one brush spring and a couple of semi-circles that are all that's left of the other spring.

I had to drill the head off one of the gearbox screws because the damn philips was stripped before I even tried to get it out. Don't get me started but why does anyone use those stupid things?

Now when you reassemble use sealant or make a gasket to keep it a bit drier inside.
