Portland to Lincoln City, Oregon

I'm traveling from Portland to Lincoln City on the Oregon coast in a few weeks. I'm interested to hear if there are any safety issues with Hwy 18 or if there is a better/safer route to take with my 5'er. Thank you!

I just got back from the Oregon coast. If any of you go through Portland, the best route is to take freeway 5 from Portland to 22 out of Salem and connect to 18 to Lincoln City. I traveled this route getting there and took the 18 to 99 route going back. Too many stops and starts through the small towns on the second route. Had a great trip and saw some spectacular scenery. No issues with my Infinity or the new Maxxis tires. Drove 2130 miles and got an average of 11.5 mpg with my diesel 1 ton.

Probably feel like your talking to yourself, eh?

I agree, the 99 is busier than the other route through Salem. Its a good road, just lots of signals and stop and goes.

Can't go wrong with either route, especially if you haven't been through the area before.
