How to check hydraulic fluid

I have a 1993 Dutchmen 27' 5th wheel and am having trouble with the slide out. My question is: I do not see any place to check the hydraulic fluid level? Does the slide out need to be in to check level? What type of fluid should I use? Thanks in advance for any help on this!

Can't speak to your unit, but there is a high/low level indicator on the hydraulic fluid tank.

Thanks, but, I don't even see where the tank is located? (I thought I was smart, now I not so sure). LOL

Usually they are up front next to the generator compartment. Don't mean to sound snarky but are you sure your slides are not electric?

You are fine. Yes, I am sure. RV is in another state right now, guess I better make a closer inspection.

I was wondering the same... I wasn't even aware they made hydraulic slides on anything other than diesel-pusher, Class A motorhomes.

This a 1993 27 ft. 5th wheel with 2 hydraulic pistons that move the slide. On piston is leaking fluid.
