Awing motor failure

It appears that I've had a motor failure with my awning. the awning rolled out but when trying to retract it it only would make a few revolutions. I was able to get it rolled in by standing in the bed of my truck and rolling it up by hand while my wife kept the retract button pushed. Has anyone had to replace their awning motor / gears. How difficult a job is it?

A buddy helped with mine. Takes a couple of hands to do it unless you remove the awning from the RV. If someone holds the awning (extended), the head just unbolts.

On my last trailer, with a CareFree awing, a gust of wind blew the awing up on the roof popping the arms out of the tracks. I was able to pull it back down and re insert the pins on the arms and fortunately didn't have any damage to the fabric. However, it wouldn't retract. I could hear the awning motor running, so it had power and after taking it apart I found the teeth of one of the nylon gears were busted. I ordered a new gear from Carefree and was able to replace it myself.
