winter storage and mice

What do you find the best to keep mice out of trailer and chewing up everything in winter storage? I've heard of people using moth balls, but their strong Oder is absorbed into everything and smells bad, and hard to get rid of Oder. I have also heard of people using dryer sheets to repel mice, but herd they do not work very well. As a added safeguard I will put some glue traps in the trailer and decon under trailer. What do you do or suggest?

I suggest your DO NOT use moth balls.....except to "hang" around the outside of the trailer. We use ladies nylon knee highs put some in - tie a knot and then place them at various low places along the bottom of the trailer i.e. off the landing gears, from the stairs - the smell does not penetrate into the camper but it seems to keep critters away!

We use dryer sheets, not sure IF it keeps critters out BUT it sure smells nice when we open the trailer after sitting 7 or 8 months (we have a very long winter)!

I had a rental property with a mice problem. While remodeling to sale I tried most of the recommend solutions to get rid of the mice, without much success.

What worked... Peppermint Oil!!!

How to Use Peppermint Oil as a Natural Mouse Repellent

It has a strong odor, but once remove fades into a sweet scent.

Dryer sheets have always worked for us, but others claim not. We use a crapload of them.

look for the "bucket and peanut butter method" crude but works. Or leave a hungry cat in there

Trailer stinkers

We use snap traps with penut butter, and I check them every week or so.If its really cold they are as fresh as a Daisy when I remove them from the traps.I also leave out Warfarin dry powder, that stuff is the best.I have heard Irish Spring soap puts them out as well.

underbelly

has anyone removed the underbelly cover and plugged the entry point holes? It seems like a very big job.

I have heard differing opinions on using dryer sheets. I don't know for sure on this method, but have heard about using peppermint oil for winter storage. Anybody ever try that?

Rats? We got our first mouse this year after using dryer sheets for the past 4 winters. Also forgot to take some clean towels out we store under the sink, she chewed a nice hole in one and made a nest. Got it a few days later with a snap trap.
