Roof trim repair needed at rear seal

We noticed the trim is lifted on our left rear roof seal. Looks like a screw or two needs replacement and new caulk.

We already know not to use silicone so plan to buy something like Dicor 501LSW-1 Self-Leveling Lap Sealant.

The question is are we missing a piece of insert/molding? First time looking at the roof but if you look at pics attached it seems like there was molding in those grooves. Agree?

Has anyone done this kind of repair? Fortunately no leaks - as yet. But we dare not go through another winter. What kind of screws do you use? I'm guessing stainless steel.

Anyway thanks in advance for any advice.

If there is a texture to te membrane you need to use Alpha Self-leveling, not Dicor . The two are not compatible.

Ok, I would recommend removing the trim and the corner moldings, clean, reseal, and reinstall. You can buy tubes of Butyl at the box stores. The thing about gunnable butyl is that it is better than factory install, but you have to place it correctly the first time. If you you have to pull the trim back off you will have a mess until it sets up.

Your pictures show that there is possible damage to the decking. If you can pull rubber up for a week or so inside of a building so that it can dry, cause I am assuming it is wet, then add more screws to the trim and seal over the top of them. The butyl is going to be key to use as a primary seal. Alpha self-leveling is a secondary sealant.

Trim seal

The factory uses the same metal on the vertical edges (with vinyl insert) and on the roof edge. On the roof the screw heads are caulked, if you're lucky, and there is no vinyl insert. The big problem is the skimpy metal edge doesn't overlap enough. When you remove it and pull the vinyl membrane back, you will realize how poorly these RV's are built.

RV roof issues

I am new to the RV world and bought and old trailer. I notice the same issue with molding note reaching far enough. Can I just caulk over it?
