That explains it!
Not the T-stat I was envisioning. I was thinking going from an analogue to a digital.
This is typical, a "hole in the road" industry making an over priced "hole in the road" product thing. Oh, a hole in the road is a, boat, camper, motorcycle, etc. You know the toys.
You may still be able to wire in an easy to understand and use T-stat.

It's actually super simple, one touch to the on button for the fan, set to aux, then one touch for air or heat, then set the temp. That will automatically control temp with the fan shutting on and off.

It's a piece of cake. It's not programmable, it just holds set point. You toggle through the fan-a/c-furnace modes by pressing the on/off/mode button. Keep the fan setting on auto to avoid the a/c fan coming on with the furnace like the dealer warned about.

I could see a call from my wife with that issue. Haha.. he said sometimes to fix it you have to do a full reset of the thermostat? I can't imagine a new one being hard to put it where she only has to set a temp... my wondering is if they use similar wire colors as a house.. guess I'll find out tonight..
Going shopping later today for a bunch of things to fill it.. as well as an equalizer hitch( likes to wiggle anywhere close to semis, I think it's the disruption of air off them) and a ton of other stuff to get started and out maybe next week during the week to a local campground...

I think they were referring to the fancier thermostat on some models, i've never reset mine (I don't think it's re-settable) or had any problems. I don't honestly how an analog one could be any easier? I guess if flipping a switch arm is easier than pushing a button...

Not doing analog. A digital like we had in our house before we bought a nest. Set the temp and it does the rest. I'm also hoping the temp will be more consistent than my parents fifth wheel, seems even if setting a temp it's always +-5*.

The digital T-stat made all the difference in our camper. Some genius figured the place to put the T-stat was right above a heat register, so there were great fuctuations in the temperature and some cold spots like the bedroom.

Not trying to be a wiener here, but regardless of the thermostat you buy, you're still going to have to switch between cooling and heating modes. Also, we've been in our camper for 2 years and the ac is spot on for temp. That is largely dependent on the ac unit size and the camper size, not the thermostat. Many campers have one unit that struggles to keep up in hot temps.
Our camper came with a 15,000btu unit on a 22 ft. box with 3 ducts and would keep you cool in the Sahara Desert. For heat, we stopped using the furnace, it eats propane at an alarming rate, and it's loud. One small thermostatically controlled electric heater works fine down to 32F.

I can't recall if the wires are the same as a house, I remember comparing the installation instructions with the, RV Digital Thermostat Upgrade | ModMyRV
diagram and tagged each wire.
I spent more time than I needed to verifing the wiring, but I was using a different stat than the one used in the modmyrv article. Once I had a clear picture in my head, it was only a matter of a couple of minutes attaching wires and it worked right on the first try.

I wonder if ours has a problem ? in the summer days the thermostat has to be set at about 65 to get 70 -72 degree temps in the unit??? Not to mention that black cap brings a lot of heat in our camper from the overhead storage.

Sounds about right. Face it you are cooling or heating with brute thermal force. Most RV's have pretty poor insulation compared to a house, not to mention the fact you are dealing with maximum exterior exposed surfaces. One of the reasons why we search for shady spots to camp in here on the East Coast.
