Welcome natep 7 Since you have already picked your Unit, The first part is done, Now, even if they showed you everything about your unit, Do a Good walk thru and try everything yourself before you take it off the lot, Get everything repaired before taking it home, it will be hard to get it back in for repairs….
Get out and enjoy, then make a list of repairs, if any….

That's exactly what we did! We went through and made a list of all what needed to be repaired. I told my salesman that we are going to be living in it full time while our house is getting built. We are also taking it out every weekend that I will be off, so we are very excited about this! I'm going to post some better pictures for y'all

Welcome! You mentioned this is your first TT but is this an upgrade from a popup or tent or is this in fact your very first experience at camping?

What type of truck are you using to haul yours around?

Congratulations and happy traveling!

Yes this is our first! We've been camping before but with friends and their TT. We've been talking about it for a while so here we are! My truck is a 99 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 diesel with some goodies.

Am sure you will love your trailer as much as we love ours. It appears there are only minor differences between our units. So if you have any specific questions or concerns, I'll be glad to help as will everyone else on this forum.

Most of my problems were corrected by myself... I've documented them on the following thread:

http://www.dutchmenowners.org/forums...bhsl-2671.html

I haven't updated it for some time...

Full-timing right out of the gate!!
That'll guarantee a good shakedown.

I did the same. No regrets. Love the lifestyle, in fact.
Cheers

And welcome to the forum.

I'm sure this has been asked a lot but I have to ask lol. We are going to run electricity off a 110 for now until our electricity gets up on our land and at that time we will install a hook up for the trailer. In the mean time we will be parked behind my parents home and plugged into 20amp house plug. Can I run the 15,000 btu ac or just the 13,500? Any harm while doing this? My common sense tells me I can't run the microwave, hair dryer, etc at the same time because those pull a lot of amps. Just asking for ac, lights and fridge? Any danger doing this?

I'm not the electric guy but I'm pretty sure you can run the larger A/C. Neither one by themselves draw 20 amps. You certainly can't run both, or with hair dryer or microwave. As long as you have a good panel, the worst you'll do is pop the circuit breaker.

13,500 probably, 15,000 probably not. You have other things pulling on the circuit too, like fridge and converter. My fridge pulls 3-5 amps, converter can pull as much as 12 amps depending on how much charge is being pushed to the battery or how many lights and such we have on.

If you switch the fridge to gas and make sure the batteries are pretty well topped up you might get away with it. I know my 15,500 won't. It pulls a solid 22 amps cranking and 15-16 running on high. Also check into putting a "hard start" capacitor on the A/C. It will lessen the start up draw. Some units come with it installed, most don't.

What load leveling hitch did u choose? Make sure thy show u how to properly set it up!! This is critical as this can negatively affect the steering of ur tow vehicle. Also the hitch shud have sway control.

I did the same thing. Bought the RV and brought it home and plugged into 110V while I prepared the permanent location for the RV. (About 300 feet away. New septic and water and power)

Everything was fine. Never threw the breaker in the house. I have a 15K BTU.

Keep in mind I did NOT turn on the indoor fridge. (The RV kind)
Instead, I used the outdoor kitchen fridge which is the compressor type. (Small dorm room style) AND, I never tried to use the microwave either. Didn't want to tempt fate.

Lived that way about 30 days or so. I put the water heater on electric for just a few minutes before each shower.
I still haven't used propane for either water heater or fridge, since I now have 30AMP shore power.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, y'all are very informative! My salesman said I should be able to pick it up Wednesday morning so we can't wait. Is there anything that doesn't come with the trailer I should purchase like leveling blocks, like get sewerage hose, etc.. just trying to get an idea so I won't forget a thing on our first camping trip
