You are correct... most places will be boondocking, dry camping... whatever you wanna call it.
Some tracks have begun installing hookups, but those are normally reserved as soon as they become available by those who have been going for years. Also, don't expect to get a 'prime spot' near the track, as those are also reserved at least a year in advance by the same people who have been in them for years. And if you should happen to get one, you'll want/need to arrive no later than on a Wednesday so you'll be able to maneuver into your space before the place gets too congested.
Not saying any of this to discourage you into not going... just don't want you to expect too much.
Each track is, of course, different... with different things to offer. In general, the larger tracks will have more spaces/area, while the smaller tracks have very limited space.
You'll probably wanna make sure you have your fresh water tank filled to the gills. Some places do have a 'honey wagon' that comes around daily to allow you to dump the black & grey tanks. Running the generator during the day occasionally shouldn't be an issue, but your neighbors won't want to hear it at night.
Cookouts & parties are everywhere... horseshoes, card games, and camp fires are common in the days & evenings leading to the races.
