Re: More issues...

My USB doesn't work either now that you mention it but I just assumed because I was using an iPod rather than an MP3 player or some other older technology.

Re: More issues...

iPods, iPhones, etc. are not connected to the touch type entertainment center through the USB port rather they are connected to the MP3 port with a standard 3.5 mm stereo cord. I thought my iPod and iPhone did not work either until I hooked up my iPhone with the stereo cord and it worked just fine through the system of my 2012 Kodiak. This does not allow the iPhone or iPod to be charged of course and there are no instructions in the instruction manual (hmmmm?). USB can be used for cameras, videocams, etc. Give it a try.

Thanks Bigboy. So we don't use the USB port but use the single Jack on the right ? I will try it on the weekend. Thanks man.

Bigboy's got your answer. That's how we hook up our iPhones (when Sponge Bob isn't on that is).

Re: More issues...

That's interesting, since my daughter's iPod did at one time play thru the USB connection. My Droid plays thru the AC jack like you say though.

Re: More issues...

Just curious FlyingDutchmen, which type of aux cable did you get and did you hook up to the USB port for playback or the MP3 port?

Thanks,

Re: More issues...

My dealership asked the Kodiak Techs about this and they told them that the USB is for charging only and cannot be used for audio. To get audio you have to use the single MP3 jack.

Dave.

Re: More issues...

So theoretically, you could hookup a stereo cord to the MP3 port for playback and a USB cord to charge the device simultaneously. Have to give that a try.

Thanks,
I got the regular aux cable & plugged her into the aux port & good to go.
Not yet tried to plug into the usb port at the same time to see if she will charge but i can't see it being a problem....

Re: More issues...

Thanks. If that works, it solves the problem of not being able to charge my iPhone (iPod) at the same time I am playing music.

Re: More issues...

Well, just did my second weekend with zero issues. Looks like I got all the bugs sorted out. In a couple of weeks we do a two-week long trip with the in(out)laws - that ought to be the best test yet (of not only the camper, but my patience as well).

Re: More issues...

Just an FYI, The "Touch Audio" system in our 261BH has been literally "touch" and go since we bought the trailer. Some days it works other days it dosent. I have looked up issues with it on the internet and found more than a few, ours has many issues. I am still amazed that in these days of tech that this stereo has no HDMI output to the TV, and is connected from the factory on old school RCA jack patch cords.
Jensen makes a nice replacement that will fit almost exactly into the same cutout, it has all inputs and outputs you would expect from a modern day unit.
Not very happy with how Dutchmen lays out the cable runs in the trailer either. Only the main TV will work if we are plugged into an incoming cable line, we have to connect the satellite in jack in order to get the other three locations to work. Made up a splitter for the outside that will feed everything.
Comments?

Re: More issues...

On the Touch Audio system, under the left trim piece is a reset button, you will have to pry up the trim to remove it. It took me awhile to find it but it solved all of the issues that I had been having with the AV system. My guess is the changes in how the power is applied (shore power versus battery power) causes the software to have a few hiccups on occasion.

Re: More issues...

Good to know Daryl. Maybe resetting ours will stop the power light from flashing off and on...

Re: More issues...

FYI, I tried hooking up my iPhone to the USB port while using the phone to play music via the mp3 port so as to charge the phone. No go. Music played fine but still no charging. However, also wanted to add I just hooked up an XM radio to the mp3 port and it worked perfectly for playback. Baby steps. Seems like everything is trial and error since the manuals are minimal on information.
