Extended Bed on trailer

Our "queen" bed on our Dutchmen in our model has a tv area at
the foot. With this there was a 10" gab from the end of the bed platform. Our mattress will creep down that 10" area. Since the 10"
area was really too tight to walk between...

Today I removed the lower hinged 1/2 of the bed and added 9 more inches to the bed. It should make it easiter now from creeping down and trying to lift the the mattress + 4" gel memory topper back into place.

Next project to add a small area on the the onside for the Dog!
Yes the dog. We have a 60# ridgeback who feels it is his right
to sleep on the bed when we camp. So I will make a area to the
left side of the bed under the window so the dog will sleep there even with the bed. We will see how this works.

The plywood platform under our bed was about 8 inches too narrow causing the mattress to hang over the edge. Fixed it myself with a new sheet of plywood and stronger struts for the extra weight. How does this stuff leave the factory?

Yep, Ours too. It was way beyond ridiculous...

Edit: Not to mention this was discovered in the first week of ownership and Keystone denied a warranty fix. I guess it's supposed to be that way?

Our trailer platform was wide enough. But the foot was way too short.

Yesterday I did add some more screws to the upper part of the platform as there were only 6 in the entire upper half.

I did notice in measuring that the space between the right vs left side of the bed was a 2" difference.

I just feel lucky that I am very handy with a woodshop that I can make
these changes.

They have to make the platform smaller, so the MDF doesn't break off when you sit on it.

The materess in our camper was about an inch bigger on sides than the platform. Socks, sit, snap, pick self up off the floor.
