Dutchman Kodiak Warranty Issue

Dutchman Kodiak Warranty Issue. I have been reading other threads that share the same issue I have. I am starting this thread to provide a place for Dutchman Kodiak issues pertaining to "All Season Package" failure to perform. I am planning to pursue legal options to recover damages due to false advertising, failure to provide warranty, and other possible claims. If you know about these issues I would be delighted to hear from you.

Angry 2018 Kodiak Cub KD176RD18

All Season Package fails to extend camping season when temperatures drop below 32 degrees for 2 hours or more.
Advertising: Dutchman Kodiak Travel Trailer website promises the Kd176RD18 Kodiak Cub has an enclosed and heated underbelly. It does have an enclosed underbelly. It does not have a heated underbelly.
Advertising: Sales flyer provided to dealers with all features and accessories installed by the manufacturer. Repeats the above claim.
Advertising: Colorful label next to the trailer entrance door says "All Season Package". It has a blue thermometer graphic showing a low temperature but without numbers.
Dutchman-Keystone-Crossroads customer service says the trailer is only intended to extend the camping season. It will not prevent freezing at any temperature below 32 degrees F.
This is clearly false advertising. It is breach of warranty express and implied.
What do you think?

As for myself I was told the toy hauler wasn't supposed to be lived in when the temperature drops to that magic number you posted. I remember the brochures blowing hot about the R value of the insulation used in the haulers.
The bull **** flag flies high and hard on their claims of all their weather claims. They have protected themselves with 32 degree mark so it might be a stretch to get anything resolved around freezing and other things. Regarding the heated underbelly, they no doubt will state there is a heated air drop down there. Doesn't mean it works for crap but it's there.
They've been porking owners for many years so they know how to defend themselves but it's worth a try.

If you are planning legal action, I would be careful about what I put on the internet...

Your going to have to live up to your user name to take those guys on, and a good lawyer. I'll root for you, but I won't hold my breath.

My voltage advertised a R40 insulation in the floor.. When they had to replace one of the tanks there was not a stitch of insulation under the floor that I could see. The mechanic said most are like that. No insulation yet mine had the cold weather package and it was cold in the weather.
The sad part is they screw the public so badly with the poor workmanship and shoddy campers...

Good luck

While we were in nc this month, the cold weather package on my 2016 Denali didn’t work worth anything...needless to say, I learned quite a lot about living with the cold and beating it.. insulation, heated hoses, heat strips, heater in the bathroom. But heated underbelly...lol!

Good luck with your quest, I’ll be rooting for you.

You asked so I'll tell you - I think you're barking up a tree and needlessly stirring the pot. What damages have you suffered? Specifically? Frost bite, perhaps? Please, your average person doesn't camp in freezing temperatures. My advice is to find another ambulance to chase.

I actually like this tree he's barking up ... even though I don't have a dog in the fight at the moment. I really could see me living in a trailer full time ... and I'm an Ohioan with a full time job. If a trailer is being advertised as "four season" I would expect it to be "four season" ... not "as long as it doesn't get cold season."

I think the four Seasons they are referring to are:

Football season

Hunting season

Nascar season

And of course................

Tourist season.

I love the way you think! But there's still a great possibility of snow/cold up here in football and hunting season!

After hearing all these horror stories, I don't plan on upgrading my Camper with another Dutchman product. I have been fortunate so far with my 242 model.
I eventually want a fifth wheel but will go with another company. But with a higher quality Rig will be a higher cost. I will definitely scrutinize who ever I go with. Take nothing for granted

I've been looking at DRV Suites 5th wheel. it ain't cheap but I think it would be worth it since it is made to be FULL TIME, which I may do one day. Model number is MS SantaFe
DRV Suites - Luxury Fifth Wheels

Not saying that it would be problem and issue free but I think it looked really well built and it comes with a 3 year warranty. Would need to purchase a new truck also since my Titan is only a 3/4 ton. Would I purchase another Dutchmen product, most likely NOT (never say never).

I believe Mobile Suites/DRV was bought by Thor a few years ago. Rumors are quality is not the same. I don't know; just what I heard from a gentlemen in Fort Myers Beach last month who bought a 2016. We are selling our 3990 (interested?) and moving to a Forest River Legacy 38MB. Residential quality and the best I've seen at that price break. Next step up is New Horizon, which is way out of my price range. I'v e heard the Luxe is also a pretty good unit as well. Just opinions.

unfortunately, I have heard TONS of bad stuff about the forest river stuff... I found this site https://www.rvt.com/rv-reviews plus there are LOTS of sites with gripes. whatever we buy, you can be sure we will get a warranty that will cover it bumper to bumper. I don't trust any RV that comes with china bombs. If they can't get a decent tire on it to begin with, why buy it?

Resolution of frozen pipes in 4 Season Kodiak Cub

All Season Package fails to extend camping season when temperatures drop below 32 degrees for 2 hours or more.

Here is the resolution to the 2018 Kodiak Cub KD176RD18 4 season failure.
After carefully documenting the issue and all communications with Kodiak/Keystone/Dutchman, about two dozen lawyers failed to call me back. Two who did refused to help.
The Wisconsin Department of Consumer Protection took two months to write a letter to Kodiak. Kodiak wrote back that they would do nothing. WDCP wrote me saying Kodiak would do nothing.
I contacted the Wisconsin State Journal SOS journalist Chris Rickert. He call Sunny Island RV where I bought the trailer. Within 24 hours, Sunny Island RV manager Jeff Tegner called me back and asked me to bring the trailer back. They would make it right.
It took more the $2000 and 4 weeks to seal, insulate, and install tank heaters. Sunny Island RV covered most of the cost. Kodiak paid $300 because the heat drop from the furnace was not cut through to floor to heat the belly.
On March 1 I tested the trailer in my driveway. It worked. The temperature outside dropped to 20 degrees F. The temperature in the belly remained a constant 45 degrees.
Two weeks later we made our first winter trip in the trailer. We camped in the best campsite at Wisconsin’s Wyalusing State Park for 5 days. From the the bluff campsite we watched the eagles soar below us.
Conclusion: The pen is mightier than the law. Don’t buy Kodiak, Keystone, or Dutchman. They are lying, cheating, frauds.
