2013 Aspen Trail 2460 RLS
Was checking the tightness of my toilet bolts. Decided to remove it and make sure nothing was causing it to rock a little. It was cold out so I had the heat on inside. Upon removing the toilet I could feel hot air blowing from the toilet drain pipe. Was trying to figure out how this could be? Removed the floor heat vent cover and took my inspection mirror and looked inside. This is what I see. the toilet drain pipe runs through the ductwork. WOW!!!!
Now can't figure out still how the heat is coming out of the toilet drain unless the toilet drain isn't sealed in the blackwater tank.

Now that is slick... a heated toilet, who would have ever thunk that?

I had one house where they plumbed the hot water to the toilet instead of cold, made cleaning it pretty easy though

Talked to Keystone. They said it was designed that way but the toilet drain is sealed into the blackwater tank. Didn't want to haul it to the dealer so I dropped the tank. Found the connection to the top of the tank had come loose. Got it all back together and no heat coming out of the toilet now.

I think if it was designed that way, they would advertise it and charge extra for the hot seat........

I understand what you say, but don't understand enough about the layout to figure out why it was designed this way. Is it a space issue? Too many conduits (sewage and heat) trying to get to the same area without going above or below each other? Still, I find this very, very strange, and a potential for problems that shouldn't be an issue.

Any restriction in the ducting also reduces the airflow. I'm guessing they just didn't think it through before placing either the plumbing or the ducting. If it was intentional they would have sealed it around the pipe as well.

I really, REALLY question their "design" process in many cases. IMHO most of the time it looks like they gave the production guys the stuff and told them to install it with no drawing, design or direction. Not to mention total lack of oversight and quality inspections.

I have worked on a variety of projects over the years, while input from the guys that do the actual work is very important, you usually DON'T give them free reign when it comes to doing layout and solving issues, if you do the results are quite often spectacular failures. Not to mention that fact that I seriously doubt very many of the assemblers at Keystone/Dutchmen would be considered skilled labor.

I to question the layout and design.
I did seal around the pipe after the repair and the restriction is minimal. I actually am going to restrict the airflow in the bedroom vent because it gets too hot in there.

Wish I had that problem in out V3605. Only place that's warm (make that HOT) is the bathroom.
