Dirty roof = crazy owner!

I am at my wits end! I bought my Coleman camper in October 2015, used it twice and cleaned the roof and applied UV protectant. At that point, it was literally black from leaves, but cleaned up nicely. Washed it with soap and water twice during the summer, and it was beginning to get a little dirty, but nothing like it was before EXCEPT where every roof support was, I got dark black lines on my now slightly off-white roof.

I bought the same expensive dicor cleaner and began my scrubbing.....NOTHING came up. Tried Simple Green, same results. Can't find Spic and Span to save my life, but after 90 minutes of scrubbing on my hands and knees on a small section, I gave up!

I cannot for the life of me get this roof clean, and at the rate I am going on my hands and knees, it will be time to start all over once I get to the back of the trailer! HELP!!!!

I should also mention, the only place I get black streaks on the side of my trailers is where water run-off occurs directly below the roof supports that are black in the picture.

Full strength Simple Green worked for me quite nicely. WRT the water running off the spots and streaking the trailer, I put a clothespin on each spout, this allows the water to run further and drop away from the trailer. I keep a pack of them as I don't bother taking them off before travel, I do replace if they come off, which is not too often.

I just picked up a gallon of Simple Green today. I used a 50% mix yesterday, and even scrubbing on hands and knees, I could not get it even close to original color again. I'll give full strength a try before I give up and live with a beige roof! Lol

Camper roof are like underwear, just because they have a few stains on them, doesn't mean they are not clean.

You are hilarious.
Sadly, I fear you are right about this too.

I'm parked beneath a few trees. It's only 6 months old. I can clean it as often as I want. I have a really nice ladder just sitting, already staged for these things.

But already it is not cleaning up to "like new" where leaves have sat for just a few short days. I dare say I am maintaining a cleaning regiment far beyond the recommended.

I was so concerned with the roof of the slideout that I had an aluminum roof cover made for it so it doesn't have to deal with the daily regiment of tree droppings.

Ewwww!

Try a bit of acetone on a rag. The roof is TPO and a gentle application of acetone won't hurt it. We use thousands of gallons a year at work just for this purpose.

If that is the worst that happens to your TT you will be lucky. Take solace in the fact that only you, and those you tell, know about it.

Good idea on the clothespin, Cale. I'll try it.

I found an extra strength concentrate made for power washers and put about 2-3 cups in a 3 gal bucket with some hot water. Seemed to do a descent job. Not bright white, but cleaned up nicely.

Nobody can see it but you! Just tell yourself it is clean and white. Do not go up there unless you have a leak that way you will not see it! Problem solved. Out of sight out of mind!!

Or a length of 1/2in foam copper pipe foam insulation that is slit down the middle. Cut a 6" length and put it over your spout.

I had the same problem and used Comet powdered soap (Ajax would work too) sprinkled on the seam and then rubbed with a sponge and rinsed. Worked wonders and since it is not a petroleum product, I feel comfortable in using it on my roof, which BTW is not TPO but TPMN rubber.

I have use simple green full strength. Worked great. Beware that anything you use that works will also take wax off anywhere it hits. Ive also been told that Dawn diswashing liquid works. Like the simple green, would probably have to go with a high concentration.

Nothing wrong with being anal about a clean RV. Me personally, I have never been one to wash my toys or worry about how new they look. As long as they are good mechanically I am good. A few years ago I was leaving a local motorcycle dealer. As I was gearing up to leave on my dirty ZX10 a guy on Harley pulled up and parked next to me. As he got off his bike he adjusted his bandana and asked me "Son do you ever wash that thing?" I said no, I spend my time riding mine.

I'm with ya Barry.
Far more likely to maintain mechanical performance before aesthetics.

But I'm not against an occasional wash!

Yours truly.
I think that was somewhere deep in the woods of West Virginia.
I've had the good fortune of riding on several continents. Lifelong passion.

Very nice. I gave up the sportbikes 5 years ago. I now ride a Yamaha Super Tenere adventure touring bike.

Look closer.
What do you think that is?

That's one of the original shipment of PDP Super Teneres to finally make it to these shores. (The tsunami in Japan delayed our bikes for nearly a year)

We gotta cross paths someday now for sure!
