Delam delemma

Opinions please: I have a 2014 Kodiak. It was brought new in 2015. After buying it, I have noticed a small place of delamination on one side and on the inside in the same place the panel has come unglued from the wall. It was checked by the dealer and there is no water leak. We were told it was just were the wall didn't stick to the glue. Keystone will repair the unit but they will have to take it back to Indiana. I live in South Carolina. They will hire someone to pull it there and back. They called today and asked us if we wanted a cash offer instead. My husband says he can fix the area of delamination and the inside wall himself (I'm not so sure though!). Any thoughts on this?? I need some expert advice! They are offering $4000 settlement.

I would get an estimate of repairs from the dealer and compare it to the $4000 settlement figure. Personally I would prefer the factory fix though.

If it's me I'm letting Dutchmen take it back to the factory and fix it.

It may be fine to take the dealers word that it's just failed glue, but what do you do if there is more to it than that.

Dealer fix! If it just failed glue, 4 grand is a lot of money. Why?

Rusty,

A lot of money if it was just a simple fix, but likely only 1/2 what it would take to do the job properly.

That's what I meant to say. If the dealer is offering 4 grand, it's probably a lot more to fix. They don't toss that much money around lightly. Sorry about my poor sentence structure.

Rusty,

Nothing wrong with your sentence structure.

We're saying that same thing, Dutchmen just wants to get it off their books and dump it on the owner. Then it's too bad too sad, you took the settlement and we are not responsible for any further problems related to the delam.

Seems rather coincidental that the wall is delaminating at the same spot on both the inside and outside wall surface. I would be very worried about something more happening in the wall.

what caused it ?? if it has a spot on the inside ... most likely water, and where did it come from..?? we have ben dealing with a heartland cyclone with delam from water, and trust me you don't want anything to do with what we have going on! it has ben a FULL time job battling since JUNE..! we joined this forumbecause we ordered a voltage as our "best" option, and its not very good. when the time comes to trade or sell, you will have delam on your VIN number, and you will take a big hit. everyone told me to trade it, and to be honest ,i was angry. but then i started to find out that after paying $70,000 less than 1 year ago, i was shown- 33,000 trade in ..THEN i was really angry. went back to the selling dealer and settled on 55,000 now there trying to move to 50,000...WHAT A MESS...

trade it as part of the deal now, or take the 4000 and then trade. very least, let it go back to the factory.

also, in trying to get this one repaired .. i found no-one within 100+ miles willing to touch it. dealer or independent repair shop.

so thankful to hear that dutchmen is willing to help !! you have no idea what i have ben through with heartland.
