On my front stairs in the back left the rod 4" by 1./2 rod sticking out. Since it is nest tonthe stairs I never seen it. It goes in a hole the n the frame. Due to the under belly covering up. Can not see where it goes . When I wiggle it sorta loose but not a treated rod all the way back to the frame
Since you didn't say, and it's not in your signature block, I have no idea what kind of rig you're taking about... but I'm going to just take a guess and say maybe to lower your spare tire, if mounted underneath the rig.
Does it have a hex end on it, so your could put a socket & ratchet on it?

Like I mentioned before... is your spare tire mounted under the rig, like they are on pickup trucks? If so, placing a socket & ratchet on it may lower your spare from the rig.
If not the spare, maybe it's the manual/emergency crank arm for your slide out.
