2017 Kodiak Express 201QB

Looking at purchasing this travel trailer and find pricing to be all over the place with different dealers and the internet. What is a fair price to pay. Not looking for a steal but certainly do not want to overpay. Any input is appreciated.

Welcome to the forums!

Sounds like you found the trailer you wanted. Now find a dealer that you feel comfortable with, then do a thorough PDI BEFORE you sign on the dotted line. If the unit checks out, buy it. For me price is down the list. I want a unit that works for me, a unit that is put together properly, a dealer that I can work with that I trust (hard to find BTW) then I worry about price. Use RV Trader as a reference. Keep in mind that different dealers order the units with different things on them. A dealer further from the factory pays more in transportation costs too.

Also be aware of the fact that if you purchase from a dealer far away that the local dealer may choose not to warranty work on it, regardless of what the salesmen tell you, the RV industry warranties DO NOT work like the automotive industry ones.

As a starting point, average all the retail prices and offer %75 of the average. You should settle for no more than %80 of retail unless other factors are important.

Fall is the time to buy, don't be in a hurry. They will get motivated to sell as the new model year comes in. Our MSRP was 29,500, paid 17,500.

We also bought from a very well respected dealer who actually takes care of their customers, not all do. This is well worth an extra grand or two, imo.

Last November, my MSRP was $52,500. Paid $40,000 out the door.

Picked up our trailer last week. First order of business was to flip the axles and put some real tires on it so we can camp off road. 31X10.5 BFGoodrich T/A KO2 on a 15" rim. Added a second battery and WDH.

Did you do anything special when flipping the axles to clear the 31"?

No, it was a standard axle flip. Tires fit with plenty of clearance. Needed to go to a 16" rim to accommodate the larger tires. I missed typed on the first post.
