2013 Kodiak Roof

I just checked my roof and noticed I need to get sealant for all the accessories.
The thing I don't know is:
The roof looks like a rubber membrane and it's kinda dirty .
I want to clean it and possibly roll it with the coating for the roof.
I seen Dicor has this but there is different types.

Any ideas what I should use?
Thanks
Calvin

Dicor is a great choice. Wash and scrub with a good dishwashing soap such as Dawn.

Just an FYI, the Dawn does a great job cleaning the roof but will strip the wax off your trailer.

Meguire's (automotive finish experts) tells you not to use it, as do a ton of other sites if you Google it. I suppose you could still use it on the roof if you rinse heavily as you do.

Dicor is excellent, they make one for horizontal and one for vertical surfaces. It will say "self leveling lap sealant" for the roof. That will work great around anything sticking up through the roof.

Not sure why you would need a coating for a 3 year old roof? A good wash should be sufficient.

I have a 2014 Kodiak and there already was several areas that had cracked lap sealant & areas that would allow water penetration ... glad that I checked the roof and slide!

Yes, you need to check at least every spring/fall for sealant cracks. I've had to caulk a few spots on my 2014 as well. I was referring to the "roof coating" the op was talking about.

Is it better to clean off the old sealant then apply the Dicor?

Do you mean clean it up or tear it off? Everything i've ever read/watched or done is just to give the old stuff a good cleaning and caulk over it.

This a good video from dicor.

Yep, what Dawnie said. The only time you need to remove the old stuff is to replace a fixture. I've done a couple of mods that needed the old stuff removed and it's not the most fun I've had on a Saturday morning.

Use EternaBond RSW-4-50 RoofSeal Sealant Tape, White - 4" x 50'. Do it one time and you never have to mess with Dicor 501LSW-1 Self-Leveling Lap Sealant ever again!! The RV makers use Dicor because it is cheap, they buy it in 50 gallon jugs!! It dries out and will leak at some point. Just clean real good use the spray primer and slap that tape down. You will not ever have to look at the roof again! Less time on the roof means more time having fun! This is what I did and I live in South Florida it rains cats and dogs almost every day. Otherwise buy a bunch of Dicor 501LSW-1 Self-Leveling Lap Sealant and pump that nasty cheap stuff all over your roof every year.

Kinda like tools in your toolbox.

Each has its purpose. Sometimes more than one can be used, but still, one will likely be the best choice for the task at hand.

Fortunately, there is no law that says you gotta pick one and never use anything else.
