The manufacturer of the detector will drop out a pigtail for hard wire connection. The size of the wire is based on the current requirement of the detector. It will be small wires just like many low current devices. The colors are important because of polarity, Red=positive.
As far as the 'house' wires are concerned, the RV manufacturer will use the same size wire throughout the unit except for battery connections and so forth. The same size wire will go to the detector or the LEDs or the demand pump or the vent fan.
Can you get to the detector itself to see what size wire it's hard wired to? I think you'll find the other end of the larger wires connected to it.
Regardless, the CO2 detector needs to be wired in and you do have a pair that doesn't have a home so you might as well use them until such time you find something that doesn't have power.
If you didn't have solar the detector will draw down your batteries, it just does, even when the battery isolation switch is open.
