03-04 kodiak skamper wiring

I have a 03-04 kodiak skamper hybrid that had a tire come apart at highway speed. It tore thru the fender well and grabbed all the wiring, heater ducts and propane line going to the stove and wrapped it around the axle . I have repaired and replaced almost everything but 1 set of wires ( blue/white) that comes straight from the converter and it’s labeled (LP). The only thing that’s not hooked up is the co2 detector beside the furnace but the wire gauge does match up. The (blue/white has 12v on it with no switch that I can find. Does the co2 detector stay on all the time? I have searched the whole internet and cannot find a wiring schematic or diagram. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. All systems are working, lights, pump, water heater, fridge, stove, vents, including all ac systems and outlets. What am I missing????

The CO2 detector is responsible for running down batteries when the rig has sat for a time. So yes, it isn't switched and it is on all the time.
Having it switched would be like switching a smoke alarm, not a good thing.

The detector itself wouldn't necessarily have large wires but the leads going to it would be the normal wire size for all the 12v stuff in the RV.

I read my post again, the gauge wire doesn’t match. The blue/white are 12-14 ga and the co2 detector wires red/black are 24 ga ish. It makes sense that there is a constant 12v to the detector , the difference in wire gauge has me thrown off. And I want to make sure that’s what the blue/white are supposed to go to.The solar panels keep the batteries charged with no issue. Thanks for your input

The manufacturer of the detector will drop out a pigtail for hard wire connection. The size of the wire is based on the current requirement of the detector. It will be small wires just like many low current devices. The colors are important because of polarity, Red=positive.

As far as the 'house' wires are concerned, the RV manufacturer will use the same size wire throughout the unit except for battery connections and so forth. The same size wire will go to the detector or the LEDs or the demand pump or the vent fan.

Can you get to the detector itself to see what size wire it's hard wired to? I think you'll find the other end of the larger wires connected to it.

Regardless, the CO2 detector needs to be wired in and you do have a pair that doesn't have a home so you might as well use them until such time you find something that doesn't have power.

If you didn't have solar the detector will draw down your batteries, it just does, even when the battery isolation switch is open.

Luckily we were only about 15 min from home. I took about an hr and a half to get all that unwadded from the axle on the side of the highway. The bad part is that the tire didn’t go flat, the tread just came off in a big flap. This was our 3rd trip out with the camper. The PO said the tires were new.

That's a decent tire. Were you overloaded or do the tires carry a low rating?

Tires seem to be a problem for us until we go way up in load range and price.

Do a search here regarding tires and you might find more pages than you care to read about tires.
