I'm no HVAC expert but have done a little research on thermostats because I was wanting to change the junk stock one out. Frank is right on the 12/24 volt thing, but many people use house thermostats in their camper, but they need to be a "dry contact" battery powered thermostat. There is tons of info online about them, and there's a big selection to choose from. The only down side is the battery replacement, my house one lasts almost 2 years.
