Speaker Replacement
I will be upgrading the sound system in my camper shortly and I have to consider replacing the speakers as well. Before I pull one out, can anyone tell me the speaker size and rating. I'm guessing 5 1/4 "cheapo" types? The new system will be putting out about 25 watts per channel. I know the ones currently in there can barely handle 5 watts without clipping.

I just replaced them in my new RV and I had a 2012 dutchmen before that. in the 2012, I replaced them with 6" Pioneer car speakers and they turned out GREAT. I replaced the ones in my '16 Denali with marine type (they were the only ones that were 6.5") and they are awful so I will be replacing them soon (they have NO base). What I was worried about was the weight of the speakers pulling down the ceiling (like some of the drop in ceilings droop from the weight).
they are usually 4 ohm instead of 8 so you need to remove one. You will also probably need to replace the connectors to the speaker since they will most likely be a different size.

You're right about the bass, NONE. My problem is that one of my outside speakers sits right between a frame member and my refrigerator vent so I will need to keep the clearance hole pretty small. I don't know if I can do a 6" speaker.

The depth of the speakers are a real problem also. these things they put in are so shallow that I was really worried that the car speakers would be too deep with their high power magnets. By the way, I have NO idea how that advertisement got into my video! One more thing, the speakers they were using in my new RV are home theater speakers from furrion.

Don't waste your time. They have paper cones, no midrange or high end speakers integrated into the speaker. I've been looking into getting a sound bar, maybe that will give some results.

Put some deeper Polk Audio 6.5 in the Aerolite.
Had to get some "spacers" to hold them farther out from the ceiling. (Similar to the outside speakers that came with the RV)
They still aren't audiophile quality. But a %200 improvement over those oem white furrions.

Have you had any issues with the magnet weight? I looked at the POLK stuff but it seemed very heavy!

I just put some Polk all weather speakers out on the porch, man they sound great.
I've always leaned towards the older Infinity speakers for sound quality, but these Polk's are a pleasant surprise.
As far as holding them, you should be fine, two of my stock speakers were only held in by 2 of the 4 screws, they cut the mounting holes too big. if you get 4 good screws in them, you'll be fine. You can't really have a good quality speaker without some weight.

I'm a Pioneer guy and just tried some of their 6.5" that I bought at Best Buy and they are way too small. What was the Polk model number? FYI, my factory Furrions say 6" in the back [emoji2]

Here ya go.
(As dawniewest mentioned, you'll be disappointed with the sloppy hole cut and mounting screw placement for the oem. But these Polks are big enough to "cover")
