newbie contemplating a 2006 aerolite 27'

My husband and I are considering a 2006 aerolite 27ft with a rear queen bed and bath, slider dinette and sleeper sofa configuration. We have a 2004 ford expedition with a 5.3 liter Triton v8 (a former special service vehicle so it's got a little extra towing oomph), so we think we have a safe towing margin for a tt this size. Are there any particular issues with this year and model tt? This will be our training wheels, so to speak, and we don't want to sour the experience before we hit the road by making a bad choice. It's just us two at this point and maybe the grandkids as they grow older. Are we asking for trouble as novices by going with an older used vehicle in a private sale? We've been doing a lot of reading and trips to shows to try to determine what we need. Still, your thoughts and suggestions as to how to avoid choice disasters would be welcome.

It would help to know the model number so we can figure a weight for towing.
With any used camper, it comes down to how it was maintained. There are some used 2014's I would't even consider buying. If you're not confident on inspecting the roof and interior for water damage, I would see if they would agree to a dealer inspection.

Just spoke to the owner, who seems sort of hazy on details. Apparently bought it from a dealer in Jersey and never took it on the road. He thinks it's an RB27SL, which sounds about right from the look of the pictures/floor plan.

According to the brochure, it's 30 feet long and only weighs 4350 empty. You should be good to go on the towing part. Hopefully the rest works out for you.
