New to Travel Trailers

We are newbies...we bought a used travel trailer and am wondering if it is possible to purchase replacement covers for the flip couch and a new bedspread. I have not been able to find any websites with these items. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the wonderful world of RVing. I was a newbie in 2008, not that long ago, really. Commend you for purchasing a used rig. Saved a lot of money on that compared to getting soaked for a new one.

I'm not sure you can find replacement covers for the flip down couch. You might be best approaching an upholstery shop, but that would mean taking your rig to them, and the expense would be quite high.

The bedspread is probably something you'll need to create yourself as well. The ones that come with trailers aren't usually for sale that I'm aware of.

I would customize the trailer if it were mine. I'd find a bed spread I liked, and just use that. As for the couch, you could use throws on that. Would make it more homey and comfy cozy, if you get my drift.

Again, welcome. Hope you enjoy this forum. You can learn a lot from the helpful folks here, and what you glean from other people's experience really gives you a boost over having to figure it all out on your own.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was going to modify a bedspread from the store. I've done a lot of sewing in the past and am sure I can fix it to slip on. The flip couch is not that bad, but I did notice it had zippers on the covers. Otherwise I could take them off and go to an upholstery shop to get a quote. I just thought one could buy replacements.

We looked at new TT, but decided on the used one. That way we can decide how much we are going to use it....I don't want to feel like I have to camp all the time. Being retired we like to do varied things.

We've used forums like this for cruising and find them very helpful. We have found we can get answers from them that are more useful. We look forward to reading more posts here.

If you know who the manufacturer of your sofa is (usually Flexsteel) and a model # - give them a call.....you may not be able to buy what you have now, but they may be able to make a cover for you. Covers are usually held on with "hog rings" which needs a special tool to take off and put on; if I remember correctly they offered a loaner tool when we replace the slip cover on our sofa!

Welcome to the wonderful world of RVing.

I would explore the upholstery shops for replacement covers for your sofa. RVs are like motorcycles, they re holes in the road that you pour money into.

Whenever you can source parts or accesorries from someplace other than an RV store, you will be $$$$$$$ ahead.

As for the bed spread that was the first thing that my wife replaced. Voltage is right on the mark, make "your own", you'll be much happier with the result.

On that note, I'd like to just add this: If you buy stuff from an RV store, you're going to pay a premium. I've noticed a significant markup on items that I could get for much less at WalMart, Amazon, eBay, etc. Remember to shop around. You'll certainly save money.
