New 282DBHS Owner - Some Questions

Hi Everyone,

I purchased a new 2016 Aerolite 282DBHS in July. We've used it a few times since then and are happy with it. A few questions:

1. The AC and Furnace (we've used both already) never shut off (unless the thermostat is set to Off) even with the thermostat set at an easily achievable temp. Any idea why? I'm afraid it needs to go back to the dealer.

2. Any best practices for making sure the top of the slide is clear of debris before closing? I'd rather not purchase/carry a collapsible ladder.

3. I want to buy a good quality cover for the winter that won't easily tear. Any good recommendations?

4. Can a Fantastic Fan be added to one of the roof vents?

Thanks!

Hi! Welcome to the forums!

I prefer to use slide toppers to keep my slides clean and not have to worry about debris, otherwise the only way is to check it before you bring it in. You could put an inspection mirror on a pole to take a look up there.

Not sure about the AC/Furnace issue, which thermostat, furnace and A/C do you have?

No clue on covers... I am building a 40'x40' barn as an RV cover.

Maybe on the FF, it will fit in any 14"x14" vent opening, the trick is getting power to it. Pull the interior trim off the vent you want to use and see if there are any 12 volt power cables up there, or perhaps you can pull power from a nearby ceiling light fixture.

I had the same concern. Make sure your fan is set on auto not hi or low. Hope that helps

Thanks for the welcome and the replies!

I will check the fan settings next time I use it. Pretty sure it's on Auto. It's single AC unit 15k BTU and the thermostat is a black Dometic.

I'd like to devise an articulating pole that could hold a broom so I could push debris off the top. I'll check into slide toppers...never heard of them.

Good point on the FF...power will likely be an issue!

I'd bet the setting is not on Auto. I've had that happen to me and a few friends as well.

As far as an articulating pole, I think our very own Handyman already has one......

Slide broom

Slide toppers are like awnings for your slide. One side attaches to the RV and the other side to the outside edge of the slide. Extends and retracts automatically with your slide. Three to five hundred dollars depending on the quality and size. If you're a bit handy and have an extra set of hands you can install them yourself (I didn't) in two hours.
