kodiak 279 rbsl

We have a 2012 Kodiak 279 rbsl. My wife and I just traveled from NC to Mount Rushmore, Sturgis, Devils tower, back to Kansas, Memphis, and then back home to NC in about 25 days stopping along the way in Branson. This trailer is strong! The interstates are bumpy to say the least. We were rained on, serious windstorms and I did not have one problem with the unit. When I brought it back the only think I thought I needed to do was have the bearings repacked. We love it an would recommend the unit to anyone interested in a travel trailer.

My husband and I have the 2013 279 RBSL. We haven't had any issues wig it. Lots of room for the two of us but have also camps with our daughter and granddaughter and ther's plenty of room for everyone. Huge bathroom is great. It tows very well. Have taken it on road trips the last two years with our 2011 Ford F-150 and my husband was quite impressed with the gas mileage. Good luck on your search.

We have a 2013 279 RBSL. Had a problem with the two skylights (leaks) and our dealer was able to have Kodiak replace the main galley countertop with Corian like the island. Only took six times before a piece matched the existing piece. Only plumbing problem was the park water check valve cracked during our first extreme cold (32*), replaced it with a coupler from Lowes on the cheap as we don't do much dry camping. Have had many times of a fitting getting loose during travel so I don't count those. Happy Camping!

I have a 2015 Kodiak 279 RBSL and love it. i've had it for a year and a half and like any house, there were a few minor issues. The most serious was a lack of caulking on the utility light on the front. With the sloping front, this made rainwater flow in. Fortunately, I found it fast and no lasting problems happened.

I really like that the interior is contemporary and not rustic/country looking. That's just my preference but it makes the Kodiak line different than all the brown on brown on brown with a brown wallpaper runner- options out there.

The island is great. I added dimmers to the pendant lights and dinette light and short stools to add seating at the island/bar. Makes for fun entertaining that way.

Mattress was cheap and after only a year and a half, I'm definitely going to have to replace it. It now has a big rut in the middle where I sleep.

All-in-all, I love this trailer and understand that they make them light for towing ease, so stuff may break. Mine is at a permanent site and I don't tow it so it's more of a vacation home. Because of that, storage and counter space was an important consideration and this has tons of both.

Lots of chances to look. The forums are a good place to ask questions as well. There are forums for all the manufacturers. Lots of good info to be found.

Hi. I'm a new owner of 2017 291RESL
How's your 2014 been treating you, any major concerns? Thanks Stan

Kodiak 279RBSL

As with any travel trailer, they all have their issues. And as I read many different forums, we learn the different issues. There seem to be a lot of quality issues at Dutchmen, but it varies from trailer to trailer. I had some minor issues that were relatively easy fixes. We love our trailer because of the large bathroom and plenty of space in the living area. But then I loose room in the Bedroom. Overall, I would buy this trailer again.

That is a good trailer, but the counters in the kitchen were to short for me.

279rbsl

The DW and I purchased a new 2018 Kodiak 279RBSL on clearance last November. We tow it with a 2018 Chevy Colorado Z71 4x4 Duramax. We absolutely love the TT, very good build quality on ours. Tows very easily behind out Colorado Duramax. We’ve been on several outings so far with minimal issues. Only problems so far have been an igniter wire came off the heating unit, was able to just plug back in. And the cold water line under the kitchen sink leaked, the fitting was less than hand tight. Was easily tightened to stop the leak. As far as most new travel trailers go now days my issues have been very minor and easily fixable. I’ve only made three additions to the trailer so far, including gas struts under the bed, for easy access. Added max flow vent covers on the roof for better ventilation, and added a flat screen tv in the bedroom. The bathroom is one of the largest I’ve seen in a travel trailer and laid out very well. The opposing slides provide excellent living space in the living area. I highly recommended this TT to anyone. And I would buy it again.
