I have a Honda 1000 watt generator. It is very light and quiet. It will not run A/C, microwave, or electric water heater. It will charge my 200 amp hour battery bank using the 30 amp WFCO converter/charger. At the same time it will charge cell phones and laptop batteries.

Honda makes a 2000 watt generator that will probably run the air conditioner. One model even has a 30 amp 120 volt plug for your shore power cord. It will run the microwave.

Adding a "soft start" or "hard start kit to the air conditioner will probably allow other 2000 watt generators to start the air conditioner. There are many excellent small inverter generators that are almost as quiet as the Honda. They often cost much less. Other generators often deliver a little less than the Honda.

There are a few 3000 watt inverter generators, but they are at least a two man lift. Some people buy two 2000 watt generators and connect them together so they do not have to lift the whole thing at one time. Some inverter models can be connected together. Others cannot be.

Do not by an open frame contractor generator. They are too loud for campgrounds or wilderness camping.

Thanks, you think this would work for keeping AC on?

Hi. Thank you for your response. Do you think this one would work to keep the AC running with the lighting and entertainment systems? I can live without using the microwave and AC at the same time.

The specifications for the Firman you indicated look like it will run an RV A/C.

Vent screens?

Hey cubbies I hope the summer is starting Out good for you all.
Question - how do you remove the screens in the vents? I can’t figure it out - I would have thought they just pop out -
Help

The 14x14" roof vent screens come out by removing the handle then remove the four square pan head screws and the housing and the screen will both fall out.
I had to put a packing plate on three of the four screw holes. There is not much material up there for the screws to grab.
Happy trails

Time for new tires on 175bh

Hi all, it's time for new tires on my 175BH. Any make / model recommendations?

So I know nothing about trailer tires. When the specs above say max load is 2040, will that work for my trailer if my trailer's dry weight is 3300?

The max load 2040 is for one tire.

Oh, ok! Right now I have the original Westlake tires. I've checked them religiously but will be happy to say goodbye to them now that i can afford to do so! The Westlakes do have what looks like a nice aggressive off-road tread.
So I am looking for additional guidance - Is the aggressive tread good or bad when driving down the road? Is it really necessary when boondocking (i dont choose to park in mud but sometimes dirt becomes mud over night in the rain...)? If so, is there an endeavor version that has more of an aggressive tread that you guys have tried?

I do not understand putting lugged tires on travel trailers. It may be an issue related to style.

Lugged tire treads help with traction in mud. A tow vehicle may benefit with lugged tires running in muddy or snowy conditions.

A trailer uses traction while turning and breaking. Do you need the lugs for turning and breaking?

At low speeds like backing into a muddy campsite, lugged tires on trailers do little more than ribbed tires would do.

At higher speeds, trailer tires need to shed water and snow on the ground as the tire passes. All weather type tread do very well on pavement at highway speeds.

By the way, when you change the tires (I agree with paul about the tread) make sure you change the valve stems to metal. The Goodyear tires i replaced on mine needed a different air pressure and were higher and wider than the westlake’s I had on there!

Looks like my current tires are 235 / 75R15, but endurance only comes in 205 or 225 for 75R15.
So will go with the 225 option?
When I swapped the 4Runner for the Silverado, I had GM swap out the regular valve stems on the trailer tires with these metal bluetooth sensor valve stems so I could monitor the air pressure from the truck. Ill have those moved onto new tires definitely. Can anyone think of anything else I should look for?

Not sure but it sounds like your looking for truck LT tires
I use Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 LT265/75R16 E/10PLY.
Excellent long lasting tire, and grips great in the snow/wet roads.
This this the third set of these LT tires for my 2003 GMC 1500 tow vehicle.
My 2003 Gmc has over 140,000 miles on her.
