Help! Need windy day advice and Fast!

Hi all - we are in Albuquerque right now and scheduled to drive to Amarillo tomorrow - they are calling for storms and gusty winds and a few tornado warnings along I-40 tomorrow. We are still pretty new at this and pull this 298RESL. (33' exterior TT) with a 2017 F-250. Should we just stay put for one more day? or risk it? there are not many places to stop between here and there - sometimes not even a rest stop for 30 to 50 miles - need your best advice

It's a five hour or more trip for you. Wide open road that I40 so my advice would be to stay put.
It's your decision in the end so go with your feelings, not ours.

We are at a very nice park here in ABQ - the American RV park - and they are able to accommodate us for tonight so we are going to stay put - the weather shows nasty weather and winds going from SW to NE from ABQ to Amarillo all night and thru most of tomorrow and even warnings. Hopefully will clear out by tomorrow night or early Sunday - We do not have any idea how much wind we can withstand but we would be taking it broadside and that would not be fun. Does it just flip your rig? or does it flip your truck too? Just curious

From the videos I've seen the tow vehicle goes with the trailer unless the hitch breaks which it probably won't. If they break loose the truck is usually in such an out of control situation it crashes.
I have seen a truck or two with trailer on its side on that stretch of road.
I saw a nice shiny Airstream roll over and become square in the middle of the road.
Here's a pucker factor for you

You made the right decision. Three years ago we were on 40 about 35 miles west of Albuquerque and we were being blown all over the highway (f250 36' Bumper pull toy hauler) It was about 2pm. We don't usually look for a park that early but with the wind we decided to get off the road. We happened to find a Casino with RV Park which worked out great. We found out later they closed the highway and there were several wind related accidents....

Stay put... and I voted twice.

IMHO too many people try to rush things and that is when the bad stuff happens.

If you have to move there is a pretty nice park in Santa Rosa that's probably half way to Amarillo. Otherwise stay put and enjoy the storm from your lawn chair with a beer.

That IS a nice place in Santa Rosa. I was given the heads up by some seasoned full-timers.
