Electric water heater not working

I have 2 switches on the panel to operate the hot water heater - one electric and one gas. The gas works, but the electric quit (switch lights up, but no hot water). Checked fuses/breakers and no issues there. Hoping there is some easy fix??

FYI this is a 2013 Kodiak Express 283BHSL...

thanks in advance!

Ours did the same thing on our 2014 330RLS.
It is likely the circuit board.
Check 110 voltage at the element, it is possible that the relay at the heat element isn't working, you should be able to hear it click when the wall switch is turned on for electric unit.If you don't hear the relay click then not getting 12 v from cicuit board to relay. Likely bad board. We ordered ours on line, much cheaper. Take part number from your old board.

Old post, but I had a similar issue.. I would check the Thermal cut off first... You can do that by checking continuity on it or just pulling it out completely and connecting straight to the thermostat.. If it fires up without the Thermal cutoff, that is your issue, if it doesn't, then I'd move on to ordering a new mother board... My issue ended up being the thermal cutoff (found out after i replaced the board)... Always good to have a spare part for each (board and Thermal cutoff), and now I do!

Uh, what's a "Thermal cutoff"?

Many RV water heaters have three thermal control devices. One is mechanical. It is a valve on the side of the hot water tank. It opens if temp or pressure gets to high. This is a safety device.

A second is the the thermostat. It turns heat "on" when water is cool. This is normal operation.

The third is a "thermal cutoff". It is a safety device and will shut the heater "off" if temperature gets well above the normal set point.

Normally you should start a new thread for each new question.

I wish you good luck and happy trails ahead!

Thank you, because, like the original poster, I could not find a reset switch, and it's been difficult finding some way to reset! Or even to troubleshoot the issue. I'm researching here, after just joining this forum.

I am having similar issues. The electric part is just humming like noise. I've tried the bypass and going straight with the wire and same thing? I'm lost. Can't try propane at moment have to get new hoses up on tanks

Have you guys ever flushed your hot water heaters? Checked the sacrificial rods? When you winterize, do you drain the hot water heaters and flush them out?

From the picture, heater is in bypass mode. Valve on left should be open, valve in middle should be closed!

The handles on these 1/4 turn types of valves points to where the water will flow.
Point the left valve so water flows out of heater tank.
Center valve is the by pass for winterizing. Point it side ways so it blocks the bypass.
Point right hand valve so water flows into heater tank.

What would explain why it's humming?

Water heater tank is empty. Electric heating element is "ON". Heating element has melted.
