Bunk Bed Rails

We recently purchased a Kodiak 300 BHSL TT. The second night my 6 year old fell off the top bunk.

I set in motion and decided to make a set of rails. These are made from solid oak - stained and clear-coated.

The brad nails and cabinetry screws were done from the back side (only viewable from inside the bunk). I have future plans to countersink the front-side screws and put plugs into the holes for a more pleasing look. Didn't have the time to do all this at the campsite!

Note: You will need to remove the top rail moulding to cut gaps allowing the supports to sit flush.

Re: Bunk Bed Rails

Those look fantastic! Could never figure out why these are not a factory option.

Re: Bunk Bed Rails

Thanks! I was pleased with them.

I was at the shop and guessed the stain - color is a bit off but I'm ok with how it looks.

Great craftsmanship.....I don't know why the RV manufacturers don't think of these things. If they would only solicite and ask those of us that use our RV's what we want and not what they think we want.

I had to put up a "rail" on my top bunk in my new Coleman CTS17BH. I just used the metal T brackets from Home Depot and a shelf board. Mounted flush without cutting anything.

Most of the sales people wonder the same things when you bring it up to them. The problem they have is that unlike the Auto industry, there is no regulation in the RV industry and they have to learn everything the same way we do.

We had used our old baby bed rail (similar to this: Babies R Us Extra Long HideAway Bedrail - Babies R Us - Babies "R" Us) when our youngest was that age as well.

Enjoy your 300BHSL!!! We love ours.

I don't see any pictures in your post. Am I missing something?

Nope those guys all got promoted to management level. Then they went down to the local street corner and got a new sales team.
