Change of plans for me...

I was planning on a week in Moab, UT the first week of July to explore Canyonlands & Arches Nat'l Parks... but after checking the forecast calling for temps over 100 everyday, cancelled and decided to head north towards Yellowstone and somewhat cooler temps. So I'll be making a base in Casper, WY for the month of July.

Where? Texas. As much as I love to travel world-wide, I can't stay away for very long.
I just planted the little tiny-house yesterday. And I'm staying ALL summer.
It's a spot I cleared back in the woods and put in full utilities, including a new aerobic sceptic.
Just need a roof over it all and some St. Augustine sod.
(I'm not saying I won't hook-up and venture for a few days elsewhere, of course!)
Blue marks the spot.

Howdy All,

We are presently in Steam Boat Springs, CO going to the Rodeo this evening, will be going to the National Sidecar Rally in Hotchkiss, CO on July 6th, stay there for a few days then wander toward Arkansas to visit friends for a week or so then wander back home to Washington via whatever northern route suits our fancy at the moment. We should be back home in Washington around the end of July, early August if we find something interesting to do.

Went and hid in the National Forest and boon-docked for a few days.
Absolute solitude at night without another soul around.
Couldn't have made it without Air Conditioning though. I admit it. I'd have wussed out.

Nice!

Which teardrop is that? I have one on my bucket list.

I helped a buddy build one from the Kuffel Creek plans a few years back. Got me interested, just not enough time at the moment.

Aaron, that looks to me like a Tiny Camper by Camp Inn. Nice as all heck, but not cheap. Several models and variations: Teardrop Travel Trailers by Camp-Inn

I think you are right Marty. Those are some nice units. I am familiar with the Little Guy line up, we have a couple of dealers in our area. I have also seen some beautifully restored units from the 50's at the local car shows.

I wanted a teardrop several years ago, but my bride is a bit claustrophobic, also afraid of heights. Won't get on a 6' step ladder to save her life. Funny thing is; she has no problem getting in a big metal tube and hurtling through time and space at 600mph and 35,000'. Go figure!

Correct Marty!
This one is a 550 Ultra. "Ultra" just means it has all the options when it was built, rather than ordering the options one at a time.

Yes, pretty pricey, when compared to mass produced stuff. But if you ever just see, touch, or meet someone with one, it makes sense why. Hand built with no compromises on materials and methods.

The other benefit is that it is one of those rare RV's that commands extraordinary resale value. Folks that decide they want a Camp-Inn already know that a used one is no different than a new one. Literally.

The one in the pic above is now 11 years old. I'm the second owner. The gentleman I bought it from commanded almost what he originally paid for it after 8 years of enjoying it. I happily HURRIED the 1500+ miles to his house before he changed his mind.

(It can take a very long time to get a new one)

Took ours out for the first time this weekend. We went to Homosassa,FL for scalloping. Great weekend in the camper and on the water. Next trip is planed to go to north GA for some fourwheeling with friends. Looking forward to getting to take her out again. We do not regret upsizing the toy hauler.

Just got back from Utah. 3000 miles on the trailer now. The trailer did very well, no complaints, though I can tell my truck is at it's limits with it. The trailer is within specs, and the WDH is setup correctly and the truck drives and pulls it fine, but cross winds really show where the limits of a light truck are. Would be nice to have a bit more mass in the TV. Aside from that, it was a nice enjoyable vacation. Now to get my photos off my DSLR and Garmin Nuvi onto my PC.

Howdy All,

We just got back from a month long trip, had a great time, crossed more 10,000 foot passes then I can remember the names of. This photo shows our route, each color is a days drive between stops at RV camp grounds.

While on this trip I saw three other HDT's towing large RV trailers, sure do like having enough power and brakes to tow through and over mountains without worries, makes the trip so much more enjoyable. Also while on this trip spotted five other Voltage toy haulers, one of them was a 3818 same colors as mine being towed by a dark colored pickup truck in Wyoming.

This is my rig.

Awesome!

Love the rig! Too big for my current needs, but still the way to go!

Arrived at Big Timber KOA in Montana yesterday, about an hour north of Yellowstone Nat'l Park. This'll be home for the next month, using it as a base to explore Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, and possibly even a 2-3 day trip up to Glacier Nat'l Park further north.
